Peter Jok

I'm posting this only because he was being ripped on another board for not being on Scout's Top 100 for 2013.

I had breakfast with Pete's guardian yesterday. We have been good friends for over 20 years.

Jok played hurt all last year and still averaged 20 points. He injured his knee at the Nike Camp in St. Louis last June. He won the three point shooting contest and came home early on Sunday.

The patella operation was performed a month or so ago. Full recovery time is 6 months.

Jok will be top 10 in his class.

He needs strength and has recently started a weight program. Pete is now 6-6 and about two bills.

Jok is very important and he and his guardian are supposedly devout Hawkeye fans. I desperately hope he and Woodbury become Hawkeyes, if so, we will be on our way to the glory of the past.

He really needs to come to Iowa so we have the chance just once to hear an announcer say, "Peter Jok neutralizes Peter Jurkin."

What do you know about his recruitment that could be shared? If nothing can be shared that's cool. From what I can tell ISU has not offerred but at one time I heard they were in good shape (good source). I know Iowa has offerred and, of course, are in good shape with him.

I honestly don't know what kind of interest ISU has in Jok anymore. They could be high on him or barely interested, nobody seems to know. Since Iowa has offered, their interst seems high.

Anyone ripping on a kid like Jok who is still growing, and having some injury woes, are stupid. Thanks for the inside info. I agree that Pete needs to be the top priority for Fran for 2013,and am really think Adam Woodbury,Gesell,Jok and Agau could form the basis of a Big Ten title team. Add in Ray Lee,Kyle Meyer, to go along with Melsahn,Devyn,McCabe,White,Oglesby, and Olaseni, and you have a hellavu roster for 2013-14...and a shot at that ring.

With those players on the team, we would probably have more than a Big Ten title looming, JH.

When Lick was the coach, we had no chance. Coach Fran has to show steady improvement which he will. Marcus Paige would have sealed the deal as Pete really likes him. His fellow Sudanese friend from Omaha could join.

44- ultimately, what position do you see Pete playing? Sg or small forward? Is he still growing? Any resemblance to Luol Deng, physically and athletically?

I would be astounded if Iowa doesn't make major improvements in the next two yrs.

Right now, Pete is 6-6 and about 200. His athleticism is improving as he gets stronger. He has great shooting and passing ability. Unless he grows a lot more, he's a two. He won the three point shooting contest at the Nike Camp in June 2010. At that camp he hurt his knee. By January he should be 100% and Valley should be mighty tough.

His younger brother, Jok Jok, is 6-1 about 210 and will be playing football at Dowling this fall
on the Freshman team.
