Pulling a John Calipari? I like Pete Carroll, however, there are definitely some undertow things happening at SC.

I'm just glad he is leaving college football. This will end one of the best dynasties of all time; 6-1 BCS record with two national titles was a very impressive run.

Was anyone else a little suprised by how quick this happened? Had anyone else heard anything at all about this before it happened? I have to agree that he is running from NCAA sanctions. I know I don't know but it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

sure but was it legal?

Despite the media's and the ncaa's best efforts to protect the 'cash cow, err trojan horse', the smoke is still smouldering around SC. You'd think Carroll's hasty departure would only intensify the microscope, unless the NCAA really hunkers down and gets protective with its prize program on the west coast.

the NCAA's "not found anything" until USC stops making them money, aka, right now. Here comes the freaking death penalty I hope.

Apparently, 'something' was found on the basketball program, with Floyd being run-out and the BB program being sanctioned.

Now, the FB program has allegations of $$$ going to two (2) SC tailbacks, of late.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm.................

I didn't hear it first hand, but a buddy of mine called and told me that on the NFL pre-game the NCAA denied USC the opportunity to impose their own sanctions on the football program...something must be up, if my buddy heard that correctly.

This kind of reminds me of what happened to Miami about 15 years ago. Dennis Erickson got out before they were hit with NCAA sanctions.

All I have to say is HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAHHAAAAAA...(inhale) HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!

You bet your sweet @$$ he's running from the NCAA.....

I hope NCAA comes down hard on these USC guys - they have been dirty since 2002!

Do I sense a trend? Dennis Erickson - Miami to Seahawks. Pete Carroll - USC to Seahawks. Has Seattle become a haven for NCAA escapees?

So far it appears all the violations have been at the hands of boosters or "friends of the program". I haven't seen anything that indicates Pete had a hand in, or had knowledge of anything going on. This analogy of Calapari seems to be a good fit. Whether he was a ware or not the violations occured on his watch and he's going to be a scapegoat. If he stays he gets fired for cause and would have a hard time getting another gig. If he leaves now gets millions in the NFL and gets to avoid being stained by whatever is comming.

When Mike Reilly says, "Thanks but no thanks, I'd rather stay in Corvallis" I'd say it's a pretty good sign that everyone believes something's about to go down.
