The article is only on Stanzi, however, I like the indirect implications that it has on our future at QB too.

You know that Iowa's current QBs all have a great chemistry with one another. You know that all of the backups have learned A TON from Stanzi's work-ethic and his leadership skills. As a result, I think that Stanzi's influence on the squad will continue to resonate, even after he's gone.

FURTHERMORE, I think that we're also seeing David Raih's impact on helping groom our starting QB too. He has experience working with Norm Chow and has seen a whole other perspective that can be used to help QBs to develop. I anticipate that the tag-team of KOK and Raih will really help our future QBs too.

When you combine the extra impact of Raih along with Stanzi's residual influence ... I think that Iowa is going to enjoy QB play at a ridiculously high level for A LONG TIME to come!

Exciting .... VERY exciting!

And, mind you, that's yet another reason why I'm convinced that Iowa's O is capable of being even MORE DANGEROUS in 2011! What a wicked thing to be able to say ... especially after losing guys like Stanzi, DJK, and Reisner!

I couldn't agree more Homer!!!

For Vandenberg to show up at Ohio State, and nearly lead the Hawks to a victory told me a lot about the kid. His first start against Northwestern was terrible, and while he wasn't exactly a superstar QB against the Buckeyes, the fact that the offense didn't completely fall on its face was good to see. I'm only left to think "what if we hadn't had so many close games early last year?" I think Vandenberg with game experience would have at least led us to victory against Northwestern.

That said, I like that not only has Stanzi improved significantly from midseason last year to midseason this year, but that our victories have been, for the most part, big enough to give our second team to gain valuable game experience.

Next year, Vandy will come in and help lead a team that he already has experience leading. Really hoping he'll be a great passer and an even better leader.

The best friend of a new QB is a strong running game and a good TE. I think that Vandenberg is going to be the beneficiary of BOTH. I don't think that I've ever been so excited about an Iowa RB-OL combo as I am about the group in 2011. Furthermore, Herman and CJ will help Vandenberg to keep the chains movin' .... and that's not even accounting for what McNutt and Keenan Davis bring to the table!

Remember that James did not start against Northwestern. He came in in the 2nd quarter and really was un-prepared which was not his fault.

I agree that Stanzi's dedication to his craft has set a great example for Vandy,Weinke,AJ and Warren. Ricky has lived in the film room the last 6 months.

Vandy has what we call,''The Golden Arm'' and if the o-line is as good as we hope next year, he will have plenty of time in the pocket to show off that arm. With Marvin and Keenan out on the edges, our passing game should not drop off much if any from this year.

Finish strong,Ricky,be a legend.
