Perfect game for a young team and new coaches

My take is that this was a good game for a young team playing for the future.

The line is very young and had a rough day, but they will get to play together for years.

Cooper flashed some nice play and will only get better the more he plays.

They got a lot of film to help some of the guys that really struggled today.

Davis got to see certain players' limitations.

do people really want to bench JVB? I watched open practice, and believe me, we don't want the backups in. Let's hope JVB gets more comfortable, and don't give up on him just yet. With all that said, I agree he really was awful today.

Huge wake-up call.

Not a quality opponent.

The last time we got a "wake up call" we were ranked in the top 15, tied for first in the B1G and proceeded to lose out to NW, OSU, Minny.

I don't know how we can't be excited to come out and play after a long off season but it certainly looks that way every year. The defense came out and was hitting and playing with energy to start the 2nd half, then the O leaves a turd on the 4 yd line and a 75 yard qb run later we were back on our heels.

We won...at least for one more week we can hope that we see a better Iowa team on the field.

Iowa St. could put up huge numbers next week. There was nothing quality about today except the heart that Bullock showed and the way the Defense played inspired late in the game. NIU is an average team that would maybe win 4 games if it were in the big 10. We have work to do.

No way... we got so much potential and with the new O etc etc it "may" come together. Hopefully will come together.
