Perfect game for a young team and new coaches

I couldn't have asked for a better outing today.
*Gutty win
* Huge wake up call (KF teams need this)
* Opponent was quality and made us earn this win
* Exposed our deficiencies (we really should start another QB even if only for the first quarter)
*Bullock is unquestionably named perfectly (salute his mom)
* Defense grew up. PP and the boys will be better for this
 
D wasn't the problem today. Take away that 76 yard scramble and they played a really good game. Parker took 52 min to realize that 3rd and long would result in QB scrambles.

Gaglione won the game along with the punter.

Bullock looks good.

Offense better pull their head out of their ***. Especially JVB and that O-line.
 
If we learned one thing from this game, it's that we can play with a middling MAC team on a neutral field where we have more fans.

Agreed on all points. Only meant to say that the D improved and continued to do so all game. We are missing a stud MLB but we will deal with what we have.

JVB is the weak link and hope KF learned something from the Jake experience of 2008.
 
can i have some of what you're on. That team and the coaching sucks. I predict a very long season. We'll beat ISU.. but after that wins will be few and far between.
 
A win is a win, I guess.

I'm tired of saying that against average opponents.
 
Offense was not very offensive. Bullock looked great which means the line's run blocking wasn't all that bad. The pass blocking, blitz pickup needs work.
I think this is better than a blow out win. A tough fight like this helps a defense more than a blow out win.

Could not more disagree.. NIU was coming back with 8 or 9 players on D and a guy that was suspended 2 years ago who was all conference.

As it turns out they had a couple of seasoned vets on the o-line back after some injuries. This team has won 22 games the last 2 years with some really good coaches.

This was a GREAT WIN for Iowa despite we were all on edge and bitchin and moanin we didn't blow em out.. How about OHIO and Bowling Green?

So if NIU is such a quality win I'm assuming that you would have acknowledged that it would have been a quality loss had we not pulled it out? This was a MAC team.

This is not a GREAT WIN.

It's a win. That's all.

If GREAT WINS are the standard against MAC teams then the word GREAT doesn't mean much.
 
Any win is a good win! As for the team we beat, they are a quality team and well coached. Our O-line does need to work on and will work on their picking up pass rushes.

Looking forward to next week...bring it on...
