Per post from TOS...

You know with nothing else for a source you are going to get blasted for reporting second hand info.

Edit: I'm not saying it isn't true, but that is just what has happened to others around here lately with new information.

That's why I said I'm just the messenger. Take from it what you want. I found it intriguing. Not sure if I believe it or not. But that's the word going around and I thought people may want to know.

I know but people don't care. I think it probably is true, I really don't see Lick coming back next year because there has just been way to much smoke for all of this to be false. It is one thing after another on the rumor mill.

Ahhhhh....a toast to Barta everyone.

Now the Hawks can breathe new life again!!! We can look forward to Iowa BB again and we even get to watch players run fast breaks...can you imagine!

Tom Kakert of HawkeyeReport.com has refuted this claim, saying he has spoken with parties close to many of the prospects and they have said they have heard no such thing. Rob Howe from HawkeyeInsider.com does not have any info to corroborate any of this, either.

I was in contact with McCabe's father today to get a feel for where they stood on things, and they were focused on Zach's state championship game and would continue to be until that was finished.

It would be impossible to stop all of the rumors from spreading at this point in time...this is a flood of epic proportions on the web unlike anything I have seen in the 11 years I have been doing this.

Please just try and show some degree of responsibility.

That's why I said take from it what you want. I'm not sure if I believed it or not but since it wasn't premium info from Tom or Rob I made the choice to pass it along and then others could make their own judgement on the info. Looks like as it turns out, it was bogus. Won't be the first time info gets passed around that is false, won't be the last either. I just wanted to let others know what info was going around at the time.

Also you said you haven't seen things like this on the message boards in a long time. I think that is due to how polarizing this whole event is. Going into this I would of figured more than 75% of us wanted Lick gone. But since this has begun everybody has claimed a side and it's starting to come out that the ratio is a lot closer than some of us thought. Both sides of the camp want to justify their choice, and thus, this flood or rumors comes about.

Until I see it on the news coming from Barta or Lick himself, I am not going to believe anything. Still interesting to talk about though...

What about when there is no coach?
I'm not following? Normally if a coach is told he is being let go, he contacts his players in a team meeting to tell them he won't be back. Then he (or his assistants normally) contact the recruits and tell them. The AD does normally do the contacting, at least not in the ones I've heard of.

What happened to recruits during our last transition? Barta did not make any contact? I thought just the opposite.

In thiscase we do know that Barta already esponded to Cully's email/text. Given Lick's demeanor, if I were Barta, I would be the one talking to the players and contacting recruits once the deal is done. I don't think Lick, like Alford, is going to leave without rtying to take his pound of flesh from Barta and the Iowa basketball program.
