Penn State falls out of AP Top 25 poll with loss to unranked UCLA

Penn State hasn't been unranked since November 2022.

Texas and Penn State were preseason #1 & #2 and both fell from the rankings. From article:

The plunge out of the Top 25 matched 1959 Oklahoma for second-biggest drop out of the rankings, not counting preseason polls or the 2020 pandemic season. The '59 Sooners went from No. 2 to out of the Top 20 after losing their opener to Northwestern.
 


They'll be back unfortunately.

Side note: Sagarin, which historically has been by far the most accurate predictive model of success (and hence ranking) in college football and basketball...because you know...MATH...has Texas #11 and PSU #12.

Iowa - #37
Iowa State - #36

Not even Sagarin is accurate enough to make dependable money gambling in the short or medium term, but long term it has been shown with hard data to have come out ahead against Vegas even after vig. Would be interesting to see some billionaire say they were going to take a 4-5 year stretch and bet big on close odds games based solely on Sagarin predictions.

An experiment like that would put the small time sleaze balls selling their picks out of business.
 


I wish I would have saved it, but they broke down how much Penn State had spent via NIL money and mocking the loss to UCLA. Ooof. It will be curious if Penn State will go the same route as Nebraska and move to look for another coach? Young Mr. Manning best save his NIL money, he did not look like a prospective NFL quarterback draft pick. Maybe ol Coach Sarkasian can "quarterback whisper" him back to prominence. That is if he is still around.

Sorry but due to a technicality, Franklin is way down the list of top-ranked d-bags.

Any football coach who wears a visor is automatically moved to the top of the ranking in no particular order. Visor use is an automatic 100/100 on the scale and any subsequent traits are moot.

After that subsection of coaches is exhausted, d-bag status is then ranked according to an aggregate score of personality, treatment of players, treatment of officials, rule-following percentage, and media demeanor.

Franklin WOULD wear a visor if he was not bald.

Can we add people who wear quarterzip sweatshirts over a dress shirt and tie as subsection 1(a) of the automatic dbag scale?

Or is my despisement of PJ Fleck really that irrational? I mean, I'm not even sure if he's a d-bag. And he's essentially so irrelevant. I mean, if a PJ Fleck fell in a forest, would anyone hear it?

PJ Fleck is the guy at work who drinks his protein shake in front of everyone to make sure they see it and says, "Better than I deserve" when you give him a casual how ya doin'.
