Pearl

I hope you're right. Guess im done venting, felt good to get it out of my system. Lets go Fran!

Good. Glad to see you've let it go. Read up on the guy. It will likely impress you. I know I am. His passion is alive. This is the difference between him and Lick. Venting is understandable, especially with "Fran who?" Can't blame you on that. But I think this guy's going to need HN behind him, so we can't be hung up on what ifs.

This whole thing reeks of trying to get off cheap, and not dish out the big bucks. I half-*** wonder if the Board of Regents got in Sally Mason's ear right after Barta said that money was not going to be an issue. The front page of the DSM Register ran a front page story on athletic spending at the state universities today. Coincedence?

Crazy talk.

This is what worries me. To think that its possible Tenessee could lose to Mich St. today and we could have interviewed, or at least contacted both Pearl and Forbes but instead it seems like we were in a huge rush to hire another mid major coach. Im not saying that Fran wont be successful hear, (although I would be willing to wager against it) but if its true that we havent contacted Pearl because his team is still in the tourney (Same goes for the Dayton coach) why were we in such a rush to lock up Fran?

I would take that bet. I am going with the odds on Fran McCaffery doing well at Iowa. He has taken 3, granted mid majors, from the bottom of their league to the top. He has taken two of those teams to the big dance. And took his current team three years in a row and beat a Ohio st team that iowa could not beat.

Why would you already bet against him? Don't be down on him because he is coming from a mid major. He has a proven track record that he created himself. This was not the case for lick or alford.
