Former Iowa Hawkeye basketball star Payton Sandfort has agreed to a deal with the defending NBA Champion Oklahoma City Thunder.

He was getting DNPs in the summer league as of a couple days ago when I looked him up. I don't know if he's hurt or just not good enough to be put out there. Either way he's not been playing and that sure doesn't bode well for him. I'm guessing he's going to have to make a decision between going overseas or the Gleague.

He had surgeries on both shoulders and won't be cleared to play until Oct.-Nov. The Thunder knew this when they signed him. But they still wanted him. I don't see him making the big club next season, pretty much has no shot at that. He is probably looking down the road and their history of developing under rated players.

Ah gotcha I didn't know he'd had surgeries. Agree I think him making the NBA seemed like a pipe dream considering we've seen better players then him not make it. I was hoping Joe Wieskamp mighta gotten in there but it doesn't look like he ever will.
