Since in the near future players will receive some sort of pay, why don't they also relax the years of eligibility? If a coach wants a kid for 7 years and is being paid and in good standing, why not let that kid keep right on playing and going to school? Probably a good thing for parity between the haves and have nots also.

For the same reason you don't let freshmen go to the nfl. you don't want a grown man of 30 with man strength knocking the crap out of a 17 year old kid who enrolled early.
