I'm here to tell you Fran's oldest son may not be his best.

I see quite a bit of local AAU ball and I've never been more impressed with an 8th grader. Now to be fair, I have yet to see his older brother in person but I'm 100% for offering and letting Patrick commit as soon as he's ready.

From winning the opening tip, to multiple and 1 finishes, to 3 point shots and even being the top of the zone and disrupting opposing offenses with his length, he did it all and I'm not sure he missed a shot.

I think the best comparison I can give is Uthoff but even better. He's a long and lean but has the guard like skills and you can tell he is a student of the game which makes obvious sense.

Just thought I'd share as it was my first time seeing him play.

My son's team has played Patrick's team a couple of times and I agree 100%. I think the kid has D-1 handles already. Great basketball IQ. I think he might end up as a top 25 recruit.

I just watched his video and I must say I am very impressed. He looks like and his game reminds me of Utoff. Not lightning quick but long and lanky. He does a little bit of everything which I thought was most impressive.

I will be very excited if we get him as well.

Lebron says lets slow down... Don't think we need to worry about his recruitment anymore then we do his brothers. If KY comes calling he'll still be a Hawkeye. And I sure hope Fran is still here and that all happens.

Sorry if my point wasn't clear. I didn't mean to sound like he wouldn't be a hawkeye.

My post was intended to make others aware that I think Patrick is a rare talent.

Connor's pretty good, too, yes?

I've seen a couple videos out there but have not seen him in person.

I wasn't all that impressed with the video. But I'm not sure when those videos were from.

Starting at PG for as a freshman for a 4A title winner says something but he had Lohaus and Morgan. Now somebody posted his stats from this year and they look pretty darn good and I'm sure he's having to score more with the loss of 2 D1 ballers.

Connor gets 13.5 pts, 5 Rebs, 4 asst a game and his team is perfect on the year. Kid can ball. I have seen a few of his games his frosh and soph years and he is legit.

Fran is already ahead of you.. been offered but mom wont let him accept until high school.

Providence offered him as well. That HS team will be pretty salty when he’s a soph and Connor a senior. Wonder if these two will actually be on scholarship or go the McDermott route. They’d get free tuition as walk-ons, no?

Holy crap. I didn't realize he was already 6'5! Mark it down. Kid will be a top 25 recruit!
Does anyone know the current height on Conner?

Don't get me wrong it's nice to have an in on a kid like him early. Dean Oliver and Jeff Horner both committed pretty darn early and that worked out great. But 4/5 years is a long time in both his life and certainly his Dads as a coach.... I just don't want the kid pounded with media expectations and become a celebrity before he laces them up in college. Horner and Oliver didn't live in the social media circus of a world it is now.

As much as I like this coaching staff I worry about Iowa's success. I want a deep run in the tourney, but worry that if there is a deep run that some of the staff may look for head coaching jobs of their own or even McCaffery looking elsewhere (which is the only reason ever I have rooted for Notre Dame to do well). I hope for much more once McCaffery gets some of his kids on the team.

If Fran leaves I think it'll be cause Iowa doesn't live up to expectations. I don't think he's looking for greener grass so much. He's going to have 2 boys in HS and seems pretty entrenched here now. Maybe I'm being naive but I don't see him going to ND if that job came open but it's so tough to look ahead 2 plus years. So who really knows.

I hope you're right. Just worry about the Iowa athletic department and when they have to make decisions. Just my fear, because I think Fran is a very good coach and seems to continually move up career wise. Also I meant the whole staff not just Fran.

Hes probably best committing early and staying firm. In fact, I bet that because he's the coaches son other programs may leave him more alone because they think it will be impossible to flip him.

And the kid had already had a taste of media with his cancer story.
