Patrick Ingram Makes People Look Stupid

Look to the defensive side, my friend...he has other parts of his game that will help the Hawks, but I do agree...if he works on the offense, even more PT will be the result. He may be the redshirt possibility in this class...if he agrees to it.
This is how I see it, Shane......

His D is his most potent weapon. In earlier video from last season and this, he strips the ball without fouling quite often....

Fran Can coach D, and with the incoming athleticism and defensive proficiency already in place at the high school level, he will prove the naysayers, concerning his lack of acceptable defensive coaching ability, to be erroneous in conception.....

In an uptempo style of play, Hawks considered the best in the B1G at times this season, there will be breakaway baskets by the opponents, offset by the steals and turnovers created by steller defense.....

It is coming, Pilgrims, It Is Coming.....

:D

Indeed it is, Jack...indeed it is! Hopefully we've seen the last of being on the short end of 100+ scoring outputs.

Very nice post.

Where Iowa loses some experience and 3 pt scoring production next year with the loss of Gatens, we stand to create a few more possessions and
break aways for easy baskets as we keep coming in capable waves.

The video looked average to me. He's got to a develop a jumpshot to be a major contributor. His explosion looked average, nothing jaw-dropping. And as another said, every clip is him driving and finishing with his right.

He's got a good body, looks reasonably athletic, and I'd imagine he plays with a lot of intensity. My guess is a role player, but of course there is four years of practice and games to sort that out.

Disagree. Perimeter defense is Iowa number one need. Iowa is also severly lacking in penetration.

Defense alone will get him PT, especially if Fran is actually going to start pressing for real.

I would rather have a guy who can play defense and break people down and finish after contact than a guy whos offense revolves around jumpshooting.

Like some of those picks he had off guys trying to dribble past him. Hopefully be a little bit better than Mike Henderson. Seemed to be fairly impressive and getting contact and finishing pretty easily.

This team could use a Mike Henderson. I think Fran's interest in an older wing is to stem some if the growing pains issues. Right now the backcourt is going to be very, very green. As he said, you want them to grow and be ready by conference play. But you still want to be able to take care of the non-con schedule. Having a more mature player to bridge ghat gap can really help.

I remember wondering what Thad Matta was doing grabbing Lenzelle Smith out of Zion,Ill. a few years ago. Smith did not fit the Matta profile of grabbing top rated players. I saw Smith play in the state tourny and while he was a very good HS player,he was a tweener..a soft 6'3'' non-shooting forward, who seemed a bit chunky, but was definitely a high character leader type.

Fast forward a few years, and Smith has been transformed into lean,hard-bodies wing player who is a very clutch shooter, and leader on an OSU team in the FF.
Matta saw something others missed. The high character/work ethic is hard to measure, but Smith had it and the result is a growth in his game, and the leadership abilities. His dad is a preacher, and Smith is very straight arrow kid who is a hard worker. It adds up to a good recruit in the end. Lets hope Ingram is similar.

Trent Lockett..........

Is his outside shot pretty broke? I don't think I saw one shot outside of the lane there.

I thought I saw him knock down a couple of treys on the video with decent form. He went to his left a bit but, like others have said, needs to work on that.

i have read 3 different heights on him anywhere from 6'2 to 6'4. and from what i read he will play at the 2 and some at the 3, and a outside chance of backing up Gesell and Clemmons.
the biggest need will be at the 2 if May doesn't get healthy, as i expect Ogelsby to play the WG like Gatens did on occasions
