About describes how I feel when reading way to many posts on the board today after the game. Funny how we go from a majority of posters talking about how Woodbury is the second coming, Mikey G is gonna lead the BIG in assists, all the talk of Marble and the NBA, White's climb to potential all BIG first team, us making the NCAAs, Fran is the best thing since Frosted Flakes, blah, blah, blah. Now? Read half the posts on this site. Pretty disgusting if you ask me. Nothing more pathetic and telling than a fairweather fan, and there appears to be a TON of them that like this site. I wonder how many actually jumped in their cars and drove a couple of hours to actually support our Hawks rather than sit in from of the damn PC and ***** about them after watching on TV? Cmon people. How about supporting these guys (OUR HAWKEYES?) as opposed to burying them now? Many of you sound like complete idiots with comments you are making, yet, I'd bet my last $ you are the same posters who will jump back on the bandwagon when we win 3 in a row. Be my guest and blast me, but, sorry. I bleed black and gold. GO HAWKEYES!

Pathetic was the team's showing today. I'm sorry, but I don't go for the "Well, they made a great comeback. That's something!" baloney. I expect them to win when they put themselves in position to do so.

That doesn't mean I won't support them (at least as much as I'm allowed to, objectivity and all). And I'll certainly be back in a big way next year. But people have a right to be frustrated right now. It's the same issues over, and over, and over again. When the team stays within itself and sticks to good ball movement on offense, the half-court game isn't too bad. When they get away from that and watch Marble try to break his man down, everything shuts down. Watching them continue to do that after seeing it fail time and again is frustrating.

And for the record, you're using about as much hyperbole when describing the board's attitude a few weeks ago as Fran uses when talking about his players.
 


Oh, and one more thing. I was unaware that it was better to rag on the team constantly and call it being realistic, than to be a bandwagon fan. But congrats, you should feel good about yourself for being a negative Nancy all the time.
 


I'm trying to think of a benefit to reading a block of letters from BasketballMan and I can't come up with anything. Kudos to tm for doing so though.

So curious, but what about having issues with their performance yesterday makes anyone a "bandwagon" fan? I think your confused as to what that term really means. IMO, the fact people are upset and angry that we let one slip away indicates the exact opposite. People actually care about this team and program now. In the past nobody cared enough to get upset, which shows how far this team has come. What needs to be noted, however, is the fact that a great deal of us may have over estimated how long it may take for this program to get back to where it was. People are upset that this team still has no idea how to play on the road. There's nothing fairweather about this fanbase, it's simply a matter in which fans are finding their passion again and upset that they played the way they did last night.

The Hawks making the NCAAs were the only thing really being discussed on these boards for weeks now.

It has been a Woody bashing party on here for a while, I think everyone realizes he has talent but needs more experience, add weight and learn how to get vertical.

Gesell hasn't been judged as harshly has Woody but he is inconsistent but he is a true freshman. Once the conference play started people realized he is young and needs more experience as well.

Marbles NBA talk stopped shortly after it started. This is a joke, anyone who believed it was drinking too much kool-aid.

White has been inconsistent at times at finding ways to score unless he is working it down low and getting to the foul line. Which is his main way of scoring but he didn't really do that at all in the first half last night.

Fran eats Frosted Flakes, personally you can't compare how good Frosted Flakes taste to how good of a coach a person is, doesn't make sense.

Moral of the story, no one has been talking about any of those things for quite a while now.
