Pass defense

Illinois really picked on Mabin today - his coverage was very soft to say the least. Does anyone know why they don't teach them to turn around and look for the ball?? how many pass int. calls did we have because they didn't look for the ball? at least 3 I think.

A couple of things here, 1) they werent throwing at king hardly at all so why not rotate a safety away from king to middle of the field and rotate the other safety over behind mabin, 2) maybe because Illinois runs the hurry up offense but the hawks didnt blitz until the last two possessions which to me gave Lunt too much time and let him get too comfortable, and 3) too many linebackers on quick wide receivers on 2nd and 3rd and long.

Yeah, I know Phil Parker knows a lot more about defense than I do but one of the reasons the hawks under KF have given up so many third and longs in 17 years is not play two extra dee backs in 3rd and long, in my opinion, and not blitzing much.
