***Packers fans coach thread***

The buzz today is McDaniels. Personally, I really hope they don't go that direction. McDaniels may have a great offensive mind, but, IMO, he just doesn't have the right personality to run a franchise.

Jim Harbaugh also is gaining some steam. That makes me throw up in my mouth a little.... It would be like tearing off my left arm, but, I honestly don't know if I could continue to be a Packer fan if they hire Harbaugh.

As for Rodgers, knowing him over the years, my guess is he'll stay out of the picture. It's not his style to become directly involved, but, you can bet that the conversations behind the scenes are very focused on finding the right fit for him.

Of course he is. The NFL has like 50 guys on a revolving door where they are coordinators on a good team, become head coaches, fail, coordinator, head coach, fail. McDaniels has to be nearing the front of the line again. Is Norv Turner still around? He perfected that scheme.

For those of us that hate the Packers I can't think of a better replacement that I'd like to see there more than Harbaugh. Can't stand him or Michigan. Can't stand GB. Only question is could he find a way to coach both GB and Michigan so I can hate both teams equally?

Too bad Buddy Holly's pilot ain't around to fly the charter. He was an ace in icy conditions.

As someone that absolutely despises Green Bay I think the problem isn't so much McCarthy, but the amount of money they put into locking down Rodgers. Hard to invest in a veteran supporting cast when such a large chunk of money is tied up in your QB. Can only do so much through the draft.
Vikings are finding that out right now.

McCarthy is far from being the fall guy. It is true Thompson was not a good GM, and Green Bay’s strength and conditioning was horrible, but........
McCarthy was not a good coach. If it wasn’t for Rodgers he would have been shown the door years ago. Too many one and done’s in the playoffs. I was done with McCarthy after his idiotic playcalling vs Seattle choked away a Super Bowl appearance.

I’m hoping Howdy Doody doesn’t screw up the hire (but I don’t have a lot of confidence right now). My candidate is Brian Kelly.
I was at the game yesterday in Green Bay. Fanbase was done with McCarthy. After the game at a bar when the announcement came out, the live band stopped mid song, gave the crowd the news that MM was fired, place erupted in applause.
You heard it here 1st...new coach to be Darrel Bevel.

No, no, and no on Bevel.

I think Danica broke up the Packers like Yoko broke up The Beatles.

And nothing of value was lost. In either case. Better for her to be Aaron's beard than for her to get sideways at Daytona running 7th and take out 25 cars. I think Denny Hamlin summed it up best when he said "You're loose. It's not my problem that you're loose, Danica."

QB's are such an expensive commodity right now that soon all coaches will be cannon fodder!

I can't remember which sports talk show I was listening to, but a comment was made to the extent of "the first contract after the rookie contract, is about getting the paid. After that it needs to be about doing what's best for the QB, but at the same time, establishing how he wants to be remembered. With that third contract max money means its more about retirement than winning championships, because the franchise isn't winning championships if the money is going solely to a QB and not a supporting cast.

Seems legit to me.

I think you have some truth to that. I'm a Vikings fan....have the same problem since Farve. No offense line and no money to buy one. On feild results with expensive qb the same!

I think I’d like to see them get Josh McDaniel from the list of names.

More experience in the NFL. Yes he failed in his first head coaching gig but sometimes failing is the best way to learn. I also like that he’s spent years under Belicheck and Brady is successful no matter who the skill guys.

I honestly don't see Bevell being on the short list. He had a good relationship with Rodgers, so there is that, but hard to see it.

Arians has already taken himself out of the running. He reiterated that the Cleveland job is the only one he'd consider. I guess any coach likes the idea of taking a job where the only way to go is up.

Baloney. Cris Carter doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Harbaugh ain't leaving Michigan without beating Ohio State. With Meyer gone, Michigan will be the Big Dog in the Big 10.

Some OSU fans hope he does stay :)...............

The funny thing is that Michigan is going to try to flip recruits telling them Urban is leaving

Ohio State is going to try to flip recruits telling them Harbaugh is staying
