Over/Under on length of time before Alford is fired....

I am setting it at 3.5 years.

I may be inclined to take the under as I am not sure they will like what they just hired. If he is smarter than I think he is he will pull an Altman (I think he is the right coach) and go back to New Mexico before the ink is dry.

he'll get fired at the end of that 3rd year when they realize that he is a terrible coach. shorter if Neal doesn't go with him.

If New Mexico is smart they will try to hire Neal before he leaves with Alford. If there is any Lobo fans reading this get the word out! Give Neal what they were going to give Alford!

I will also not be surprised if there is some type of investigation in the next few years at New Mexico...from what I understand he was getting a fat pay raise. Was the money that much more or just interested to join a better conference? Maybe he hopes to get a better seed so he can make history by being the first 1 seed to lose to a 15.

We have seen it before Alford bailing on a team how many recruits go with him?

His son Bryce, who signed an LOI at UNM, will be going for sure. He's the best high school guard in New Mexico.

He will stay 4 years to make his son a UCLA legend. Then he is outa there. Guy has a way of staying one step ahead of the lynch mob.

I am telling you guys, I used to live about 300 yards from Pauley. He will play better there than you all think.

Over on the lobo site they think Alfraud and Neal were starting to not like one and other because Alraud didn't really want Neal Jr. on the team....

Wasn't part of the problem with Howland that people thought his style was too slow to sell to big time recruits? So they go out and hire a coach whose team played at the 221st fastest pace this year? Alford's only been in the top 150 in pace of play once in his time in New Mexico.

1 seeds play a 16 seed so he would be the first to lose to one

I honestly think 1.5 would be a good O/U. One mediocre season + his usual arrogance might be enough to make him a one and done coach. UCLA can obviously do a lot better than Alfraud and they might realize that after next season.

3 years. He'll get fired for the 1st time in his career because he won't be able to cut and run when the heat gets turned up.

He should have been fired from Iowa but that idiotic contract Bowlsby drew up handcuffed him.

well, now that's it's for sure that Neal isn't going with him, i'm going to say he'll get fired at the end of that 3rd season. they'll want to fire him after the second, but won't want to be paying 3 coaches at once.

Will he not jump before he gets fired is the question. He hasn't faced the firing squad yet. He's pretty good at getting out ahead of the posse and finding a soft landing spot. If he can throw together a good recruiting class he'll win games in that conference regardless of his coaching. However he'll eventually feel the heat for the same reasons Ben H was fired. He won't make any waves in the big dance and that'll get old fast after having fired a guy pretty much just for that. He won't coach out the 7 yr deal he got I'll safetly say that. I say over under 4.

Three years. The lynch mob in LA has a much shorter rope than Alf is used to.

I just can't stop laughing, both at the Lobos and the Bruins.

I'll take the over and the contrary argument. He's actually been a successful coach at UNM, less the NCAA loss and his character flaws. UCLA has good returning talent even without Shabazz, and recruiting will be easier there. And the PAC11 is not exactly a grind house conference.
My guess is that he'll be modestly successful, conference championship challenging sweet sixteen and elite 8 levelish. That'll buy him five years.
And the arrogance won't be as big an issue in SoCal.
