Over/Under on Iowa Points vs SDSU

I'm going to set the O/U on SDSU at 72pts for Iowa.

Over or under?

Remember this isn't exhibition anymore.

under. SDSU isn't a bad program and they will play defense. plus they play a slower style of offense that will eat clock

wouldnt be surprised to see a 62-57 final score or something like that

SDSU gave up 80+ points almost as many times as they gave up<70 last year. And their scoring totals were all over the map. The Hawks may not blow them out, but it will be a much higher scoring game than 62-57. I could see 80-75, but the score won't be in the 60's. Just because they beat ISU last year doesn't mean they aren't a bad program.

What does last year, or their game against ISU have to do with anything (two years ago)? can I say that Iowa will be horrible and only break 50 this year like twice based on last year? NO, things change from year to year. we're talking this years teams, not last year.

They play a set offense, not run and gun, that will slow things down and bring the score down a bit. they also bring some guys back from last year, players do improve and grow over the off season. I don't think there is as big of a talent gap between Iowa and them as you'd like there to be. Too many people have a raging boner over an exhibition game win.

I'll stand by my prediction. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Iowa loses.

please, continue to argue my PREDICTION though...

First, I'll give credit for a really good number on the O/U.
I'll say over, though. I see Iowa getting to low 80s.

Why wouldn't someone argue against your prediction? If they feel it's wrong and put stats up to back it, surely they can argue against it. It's not like you are arguing that raccoon tastes good or something.

If a team returns a lot of players under the same coach, you'd think some of the stats would be similar.

because it is pointless. it is what it is. I made my prediction and cited why I chose to go with it. the case I made for why I chose what I did is just as valid as his, is it not?

had I said "30-35 both teams are pathetic" or something totally insulting like that, then I could see arguing it. Iowa will be without their returning leading scorer in their first game against a team with a pulse.

Under

62-57 - Iowa wins

Bring some clarity to this. They played ISU in 08-09 and did in fact win 65-58 btw. They must be good if they beat ISU.

88-68 Hawks!

The point is the poster read your prediction and argued it with facts, that's a legitimate disagreement.

Furthermore, any knowledge you think you might have on the Iowa basketball program will always be marginalized because you are a Cyclone fan. It's just the way it is until you earn respect from posters on this board.

this team needs to prove that they can score points in bunches against an actual team. I'm not all that confident in them just yet

Don't worry Stormin......As soon as ISU splits there final two games with Colorado and Missouri and finish 6-6 and get left out of a bowl game, per Crab's sig, he will delete his hawkeyenation account!!!

The one thing that none of us know whether we are Iowa fans or Cyclone fans, is what kind of talent this Iowa team has. Lick did not utilize the talent he had or the athletic ability that some of these players have. This system will, and we all could be in for a big surprise this year. There is a big unknown going into this season. We cannot base win/loss record of this year off of anything that has happened over the past few years!

SDSU scored over 80 points 11 times last year, roughly 1/3 of their games, and scored in the 70's another 8 times. That's 63% of their games. They only scored in the 50's twice. I'd argue that they are not a slow down type team . They averaged 74 points per game (14 per game better than Iowa last year) and (more importantly) gave up 73 per game, against the Summit League. This from a team that won 14 games (10 conference) against the Summit League.

I'm not expecting 111 against them, but Iowa will put up way more than 63. I'm expecting roughly 90-78 or so, considering Iowa's tempo now (not under Lick) and what SDSU has done in the past. If Lick was still the coach, I'd expect a 63-57 game. But given Iowa's new style of play, and the FACT that SDSU isn't as low scoring as you seem to think they are, I'll be shocked if either team is under 70.

And I don't have a raging boner over their exhibition game, in fact I haven't changed my prediction for their season one bit. I still think they are a 13-15 win team. I am excited to see them running again, but I honestly don't think it will translate into that many more wins, this year. Not against the Big Ten. Guess what, SDSU isn't a Big Ten team.

I'm going with over but it could easily be under. Scoring in the upper 60's isn't a bad thing or a crazy prediction by any means. Especially considering that if it is a quick blowout who knows what kind of lineups will be out there for large portions of the game.
