So North or South Florida has a better starting lineup than Iowa.
Another thread has some tiny Catholic school with more talent than Iowa.

Why isn't Iowa playing basketball in the MAC?

Time will tell. The early portion of the schedule is going to tell us if we have a remote chance.

Would it not be nice for once if we could surprise instead of disappoint? Been a long time since that has happened.
 
SheagleHawk, didn't Iowa win the game? What in the world are you talking about? Did you listen to the N Florida coach after the game? Did you watch the game or listen to the post-game interviews? WTF? What planet do you live on????

Last year was surprising that it ended so disappointing. Does that count?

Again, Iowa has plenty to work on and certainly needs significant young player development.

South Florida was a solid team with quite a bit of talent. But Iowa, with a strong performance from its best player, won the game.

obviuosly thats not true but it's not that far off either.

This team is brutal.

That kid will probably be bragging about this game to his grandkids one day. He was just the next of a long line of kids that goes unconscious against Iowa.

Yea right. Name one player that ever went abnormally unconscious against our football team....and you can't use Steel Jantz. Or any Northwestern player. Or any directional school player. Or any player on a team that was a double digit underdog against us. Or any backup QB. That includes 3rd stringers too so you can't use JaMarcus Russell.

I know what you're getting at with players seemingly always going off against us but I was dead serious. Trent Mackey is a career 43.7% shooter from 3 with 300+ attempts. He also just shot 5-8 from 3 last Friday night. 40%+ 3 point shooter each of his 3 seasons. I would gladly take that kind of production.

I saw he was on the bench to start the 2nd half so I just assumed it was a once in a lifetime game for him.

Please share how this performance was any different than the previous 12? Cool, we barely won against what should be a highly inferior opponent at home 1/3 of the way through the season with a group of guys who are mostly upperclassmen and have played together for multiple years. Once again extremely poor shooting. Once again long scoring drought to start 2nd half(not even counting the first 4.5 mins of the game where we didn't make a fg). Once again horrid guard play. Once again struggle to feed the post. The list goes on. I'd really like to hear what you think we did/do well aside from ft shooting tonight. I'm not sure the majority on this board even knows what good basketball looks like anymore. Do you watch anyone other than Iowa???

It is pretty obvious that it is Fran's offense at this point that causes these problems.

When have we ever had even a decent 1/2 court offense under Fran? The correct answer is NEVER. His motion offense is outdated, and his insistence in not only allowing, but even encouraging shots 15-19' away from the basket will guarantee that we continue to be a team that goes into scoring droughts, and shot a horrible % from the field.
