Outside Of White...

what Iowa starter would you take over a North Florida stater? Sad. This team is almost unwatchable. Fran better hope Hutton, Wagner, Moss and Fleming end up far exceeding their ranking bc this team now is completely devoid of any difference makers. After 2 horrible beatdowns by in-state rivals you come out and lay this turd against North Florida. No wonder Carver is a ghost town.

We could have all but buried our tournament chances tonight so I wouldn't say we layed a turd. Tonight we at least had some individual players take steps forward. Jok played pretty good for his first start, Oglesby made a few shots, Gesell played pretty good, and White was really aggressive. Hopefully it's at least something to build on.

Not holding my breath on that one. I've lost count of how many times I've had the same thought, only to be disappointed. Seriously, being a Cubs fan is more enjoyable than being an Iowa fan. At least the Cubs never disappoint you.

Everyone of the Iowa players I would take, Iowa is a team of winners! This win was a team effort, and they all played hard.

I know you are trying to be positive and nothing wrong with that but the UNI loss all but extinguished our chances for an NCAA tourney bid barring something historic in conference from us. NIT might be questionable as well as they do not take many Power 5 teams now.

The B1G is down which means we may not get many bids so even finishing 9-9 will not get it done. I think the league has 3 top 25 wins in something like 20+ match ups. Not good.

If we would have swapped starters, wouldn't we have lost?

Plenty to improve on, certainly not a dominant performance... but I dont think a 10 point win and 80 points is a "turd".

Don't get me wrong, still need to shoot better, turn the ball over less, and stop with the slow 2nd half starts, but not a bad win over a pretty talented North Flerida team.

Build from here.

I suppose I'd rather be Michigan who lost at home to N.J.I.T, Eastern Michigan and SMU. Or maybe Nebraska who lost to Incarnate Word at home..or Purdue who lost to the same team we just beat and lost to Gardner-Webb tonight at home..or MSU who lost to Texas Southern at home. I don't think we are a very good team and don't see us making the Tourney...but we do have a win over UNC in Chapel Hill and the 4 losses we have came to teams that were ranked at one point. Some of you guys act like we are the worst program in the BIG 10..chill out. This season is still young and there are things we can improve upon. It would be nice to be 10-3 but we laid 2 eggs in a row, we can only hope something comes over these guys and they figure out how to play to their strengths. I'm still hopeful

Take away White and his 23pts, insert any other iowa player on the roster and we lose. So again, who would take of the remaining 4 starters from iowa over south Florida's starters? Exactly.

Yeah that would be terrible to be coming off a big10 championship and finals appearances, or coming off one of the better seasons in your school history. I'd be optimistic too but what we are seeing has been going on for far too long and appears destined to continue. Unless you truly believe this team will all of a sudden become good shooters and uber athletic despite years of evidence to the contrary.

I think that the conference being down is the only reason we still have a shot at the tourney. I think we have a better chance of going 10-8 against a bad conference and getting in than going 9-9 against what I thought the conference was going to be and get in. I think we are only going to play 5 games against teams that are noticeably better than us.

True, but take away the best player on about all the top 30-40 teams(outside of the truly stacked teams), and they probably struggle a lot more.

Again, Iowa has plenty to work on and certainly needs significant young player development.

South Florida was a solid team with quite a bit of talent. But Iowa, with a strong performance from its best player, won the game.

Build from here. Who knows?

You know what this team is missing? A guy who can go 3/10 with 5 TO's like Jalen Nesbitt or someone like Romelo Banks who can through up a monster 4/2 game. No doubt those guys would lead us to B10 glory.

People think those loses hurt our chances because it makes the conference look worse. I think those loses help our chances because we might end up fighting for a bubble spot against those teams.

Agree not losing to really, really bad teams like we have in the past was a positive like the UNC win. The issue is what happens if we lose to one or several of these B1G teams? Are these considered a bad loss?

We have to win a lot of games in conference and when was the last time we did that? UNI was a dagger.

Funny thing is we already have those guys just different names. Sad thing they were actually recruited to play major college basketball and actually came with some fairly decent expectations, which they've failed miserably to meet. That 7'1" top 50 3yr starting JR really dominated out there. Or how about or JR 3 yr starting top 100 pg? He was really running circles around everyone out there, creating his own shot and really setting up teammates.

It looks like we only play 5 games against teams that would be considered bad loses. If we lose any of those we probably won't have a good enough record to get in anyway.
