Outback Bowl Roll Call

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and assorted happy holidays to all Hawkeye Nation!

Who's making the trip to Tampa? Where are you staying? My daughter and I will be making the trip from the L.A. area, and I want to give her the full game day experience. Any suggestions on where to park/tailgate where we are likely to be with mostly Hawk fans?

Looking forward to seeing you all there.

I won't be making the trip, but I can tell you this about our opponent. They are terrific tailgaters. If you end up in a split crowd (or even out numbered by LSU fans) you'll have a blast with them.

With all that being said... Tailgating with like minded Hawk fans is certainly the bestest.

My wife and I are going to the game. The first bowl game for me and my wife likes the hawks but she is not a die hard.

I hope to get some good scouting reports from HN prior to leaving.

What are some good but reasonably priced hotels north of Tampa or north of St Petes close to the beaches.

The game is the primary mission but it would be nice to get some sun and warmth after this early blast of cold air in Iowa.

Thanks Eda -- I could certainly live with being surrounded by our Cajun friends, especially if our Hawks come out on top.

This is true. Lots of LSU fans around here and from the stories they tell they certainly down how to throw a tailgate party. Longhorns on the other hand. . .

My wife and I are flying in on Sunday evening...we will be staying at the Marriott Waterside...within walking distance to keep us out of trouble.

Wife, daughter and I made the trek to Florida.
LSU fans were not an issue when we were in Orlando days before the game, when we were wearing Iowa gear.

Flying down on the 28th and will be staying at the Tahitian Inn. As Eda stated above, if you do end up tailgating with/by LSU fans, they are very hospitable and usually have some great food! Also, I did see that on game day, there will be an Iowa tailgate party outside of Raymond James Stadium in the South Plaza. Entertainment, along with drinks and food will be available. Go Hawks!!

Just arrived in FL, playing golf for a few days, and getting ready for the Outback Bowl should be a great game Go Hawks!

My wife and I will be arriving on 29th. Our 7th bowl trip and 3rd time to Outback but first time without our adult children and their significant others. Staying at Pier 60 hotel on Clearwater Beach on 29th and 30th and going to a courtyard marriot in Westshore after that.
