Our signature win

I think we need to have a stronger OOC schedule. That would give us more opportunities for a signature win each year, and it would also at least leave us with a quality loss if we were to come up short. Quality losses aren't the end of the world and are something the Playoff Selection Committee should take into consideration.

Stronger OCC - what makes you think Iowa could handle that? They barely squeaked by the weakest OCC schedule in a decade this year. That ISU loss coupled with the Minnesota blowout should be the nails in the coffin.

We always play to the level of our competition. Whether thats a top 10 team or a bottom 10 team. By playing more top 10 teams, we know we will always be right in the game with a chance to win and minimize the damage by having a quality loss. Would you rather have a loss to Iowa State on our record, or a loss to say an Oklahoma or Baylor? Plus broadening our OOC schedule gives us more exposure in valuable recruiting territories.

Unfortunately, I can't get our Signature Loss out of my head. How the hell you lose to Iowa State, at home mind you, is one of the great mysteries of life. Where most of the B12 looks across the sideline and sees Paul Rhoads (gyrating and praying) as a doormat for their programs, Iowa cowers in fear of losing...so we play not to.

Honestly, I think the Iowa fan base is way too tolerant of losing to Iowa State. I get the feeling KF gets a pass as everyone has accepted he's going to lose to a lousy team every year, and everyone give the collective..."meh...whatever". Lofty expectations indeed.

Way to tolerant of losing in general. If people would be honest with themselves they would realize this coach they think can't be topped has lead the program to two good seasons out of the last ten years.

There is no downside to firing him, Anyone can achieve such mediocraty.

I think the Iowa's Signature Win Bowl is kicking off on ESPN2 right now, as Illinois and Northwestern fight for the right to be called Iowa's Signature Win of 2014.

Today is like a College Football Playoff bracket with four teams competing to be Iowa's, number one to number four, Signature Conference Win. Illinois is beating Northwester for the #1 spot, and Purdue and Indiana are in a battle for Iowa's third and fourth signature wins. I wish Pitt was in the B1G but they are stuck playing Miami for a chance to tie Illinois at 6-6 to become Co-Signature Iowa Win Champions of 2014.

I just checked the Illinois score, they are finishing the season strong. The way Iowa dominated that game on the road is looking pretty good.
