Our Schedule, have you noticed?

Our schedule sucks! from October 6th - November 3rd we have only one home game. We then have a home game on November 10th, but back on the road the following week. That's only two home games from October 6th - up to the Nebraska game on Nov 23rd.

Yes, October is the best football month, and to only have one home game that month is wrong. This is either Barta's fault or the Russians meddling in Iowa's scheduling. To some, they are the same thing.

Road trips to Minny, Bloomington and State College!

For one thing, it's an even year which means we only get 4 home B1G games, plus we're contracted I guess to play Nebby at home the day after Turkey Day.

But yes, Putin could have something to do with it.

Did you notice that Purdue and Northwestern both have 2 P5 schools scheduled in OOC and both still managed to have 7 home games total?

Purdue hosts both Missouri and Boston college in 2018

NW hosts both Duke and Notre Dame in 2018.

Those that say Iowa can't play 2 P5 schools in OOC and still have 7 homes have been proven to be BIG FAT LIARS by, of all schools, Purdue and Northwestern!

Can we stop with this whining about Iowa's schedule?

And not play the Mighty UNI Panthers? I don't think so.

Uh, I am guessing that is not going to happen.

All Iowa would have to do is give up 1 home game every 6 years and then it could play a decent OOC P5 opponent once every 3 years. 2018 would have been a great year to schedule that 2nd OOC P5 school. Instead we got UNI.

It does not even need to be Bama or Notre Dame level schools. Schools like Missouri, Arkansas, West Virginia or Pitt would be great additions to future schedules.

Time to go to some road games. If the hawks look like they are playing great I might go to the indiana game. LIving in Des Moines I have gone to Minny and Wisky many times, purdue once, jNW about 4 times, ISU for or 5 times but not Indiana. I have no interest in traveling all the way to PSU and maybe even OSU. too far

Mich teams are not quite so far

Well, Iowa was once a respected, ranked team. Now they are scarcely ranked and stay below the radar in nearly every possible way.

I fixed it for you.

NIU and ISU are predicted to be bowl teams so there is just 1 “cupcake” team.

then why not play a team from a P5 conf for recognition? your schedule can and does have an effect on recruiting. it isn't a huge effect, but it exists. and i'd rather go 3-3 or 2-4 against other P5 conferences in non con with the chance of going 6-0, rather than 4-2, 5-1 or even 6-0 against the MAC. ultimately, it's all about winning...but, it DOES matter who you are winning against.

i'd add schools like Texas Tech, Ga Tech and even Boston College.

At least it's an easy schedule.
That was my first thought, but after thinking about it for a while, I'm not so sure its as easy as some people think. If you compare the 2018 schedule to the one in 2017 the only glaring difference is we don't play Ohio St. The other 11 games are pretty comparable IMO. Remember the 2017 schedule was ranked the fifth toughest in the country by sagarin. So if 11 games out of 12 are against similar competition, is the overall SOS that much different?
