Our fullback had more catches than ISM

It'd be fun to see that game played over if say Petras woulda hit Smith on that deep ball that first possession. Or not missed on a couple of the other open throws he missed those first 3 possessions. There's no underselling how hitting on any or all of them woulda changed the complexion of not only the game but his own confidence. ISM needs to get more touches no doubt about it. Did we run any WR screens? I don't remember any. Feels like we shoulda done 1 or 2 of those. Get that man the ball in space.
Fair point, but you could also say the same thing about the ball Bell was wide open and got a hand on that he simply couldn't have pulled in... There was no player within 10 yards of him and unless we've got a DK Metcalf wearing black and gold, no one was catching him. Both teams were knocking the rust out. Purdue just found a way to come out on top.

I'm surprised somebody (we do have a QB coach, right?) didn't talk w SP after the first series or two and calm him down.

O'Keefe was talking to him so just cool it. Sometimes talking to someone makes it worse. You know those nights when you can't fall asleep and you psyche yourself and next thing you know it's 2 in the morning and you're still wide awake? That was what happened to this kid. I say give him 3 drives against the Cats before pulling him if he still looks like that.

For sure that was probably their most obvious woulda coulda shoulda moment. And that's all this was I was saying too is at the early part of the game we did nothing for like the first 3 possessions when he had open chances to move the chains. If the woulda couldas went our way then it's hard to know how the dominos fall after that

I'm not saying pull him, it's one game. Just surprised he didn't settle down. First game jitters happen, but guys usually settle down once they break a sweat.
