Our D Next Year Could be Off the Charts

Iowa had the #1 D in the conference without facing Ohio State or Michigan, just for balance.

Iowa's D will be very good if Stanley gets his head on straight and can sustain some drives and make some plays under the tutelage of the now veteran OC. And, Iowa can establish a run game.

I like your optimism. In terms of "new" guys and emerging players, I'm curious about Amani Jones. I think he'll be a senior next year. Will he become a starter and mainstay of the defense? How good can he be? With his physical talent, I really hope he'll turn into a major contributor on defense.

Are you really that confident in Sebastian Castro as a true freshman? I know nothing about him, other than his recruiting profile. Do you really think he'll be a difference maker?

With a few exceptions in November of 2009 and the last few weeks of November 2015, next year is pretty much always a nice time to look at as an Iowa fan.

Who do you want to be, Andy or Nietzsche?

Time will tell and there is always an adjustment period for freshman but a friend of mine, who used to be an assistant coach in the South Suburban Conference that Castro plays in, told me this kid is a can't miss as a top B1G safety. He's seen him play several times and he's always been the best player on the field. He lead Oak Lawn Richards defense this year and they had 5 or 6 shutouts against some pretty stiff competition in that league. Also played both ways as a QB and RB on the offense. Those tough QBs usually turn out pretty good for us.

Here is an article he sent me a couple weeks ago ...
