OT: Tiger seriously injured in car accident, leg injuries reported

This is too bad no matter what you think of him. The pictures of his wrecked SUV in a ravine look bad. I hope he has a complete recovery.

He is one of the top golfers of all time, an ambassador, intelligent and well spoken. He has had some bad personal issues. I didn't like some of the yelling and crap he did during tournaments and yelling at the gallery along with his old caddie when they thought people were making too much noise etc. A PGA golfer can ask for quiet but should not be berating the gallery unless a lone person is being a jerk (and if the golfer tells the PGA officials that fan will be removed).

He has given back a lot to charities etc.

His name is right up there with M Jordan, T Brady, some top soccer stars, and around the world some track and field and other athletes. M Ali was probably the best known athlete of the last 50 years.

Sounds similar to injuries Ben Hogan suffered when a bus collided with a vehicle he was driving.

But Hogan was in his mid thirties when he was injured. Tiger is 45 and this accident couldn't have done his back any favors.

Hopefully he has a full recovery. And as for larger than life athletic icons from the last fifty years his only peers are Ali and Jordan.

I never had a problem with Tiger and his rantings, although in hindsight he probably took his mob of fans for granted. As phenomenal of a talent as he was in his prime, having an entire gallery rooting for you couldn't have hurt. How would you have liked to make the final pairing on Sunday of a tourney, only to have to face not only Tiger, but also his fans? Tiger was used to the circus show, but I am sure many of his competitors were not.

Another thing that I think about regarding TW is WHY DID HE GET MARRIED? Mid twenties, best golfer in the world, tons of money, and plenty of women falling at your feet. Save marriage for five years or so, I say. Have some fun, THEN get married.

Once his transgressions came to light Elin went ape with a five iron, he lost a large portion of the rabid fan base that he had had before and he had to rely on his talent alone. People wouldn't have turned on him so much had he been single. Add in his back problems shortly after, and the Tiger we once knew was gone.

Before this accident, I never saw him winning another major anywhere but Augusta. Today's late twenty, early thirty somethings can bomb the crap out of the ball and do things around the green that Houdini would never attempt.

Now that this has happened, all of that is out the window, and suddenly no longer even important. Tiger's health is a bigger issue.

Yeah, Nicklaus took a lot of hooting from Arnie's army and Trevino had a following that was really loud and ran all over the place so that was distracting. Arnie's army made a lot of players sweat and wilt on Sundays.

The latest I heard Tiger's ankle is pretty messed up which has to be really bad for a golfer. I hope he gets his game back to a pretty decent level to at least play in some majors but it could be a couple of years.

Kyle Korver has family in Orange City, and I've had the opportunity through some coworkers to talk to him a couple times. I always figured the NBA was just a big porno movie that happened to contain some basketball once in a while, but after hearing it first hand it's even wilder than I thought.

And he didn't really go into specifics on this part, but there are definitely a lot of substances consumed on the regular, and it's not just weed.

I have to think it's the same for all pro sports leagues.

I talked to a guy awhile back who has a son, who at the time was a referee for the hockey league just below the NHL. He was telling me that if his son were single or willing to stray, he had numerous women after him at every stop in that league. However according to this guy he never once took part in that scene. That alone told me that if anyone in the pros could live the life of a rock star if so desired. I still have to wonder what goes on in the Olympics, and the never-ending image polishing to keep that looking as wholesome as Disney World.

I'm no fan of golf. I don't like playing it and I can't stand watching it. Despite his personal issues and hardships, it's hard not to like Tiger. He's a legend. Like the Michael Jackson of golf. It has to be incredibly tough to have such fame at a young age and come out normal.

His battles and return to dominance are a great example of his will and something we all should aspire to. Hard to imagine him coming back to success after this, but I will say it wouldn't surprise me. I'll be rooting for him and hope he recovers well.

The crash was in Rancho Palos Verdes. The average household income there is $180k, which means basically unless you have 8 figures of net worth don't move there. Even crappy 1960's ranches are under contract for over a million bucks on Zillow. Those towns have an unwritten policy not to interfere with the wealthy. The cops exist there solely to protect those folks from the proles. It's basically like being a 5 star recruit in Lincoln or Columbus. Unless you're talking about a serious felony, no crime is too big to be swept under the big ass rug in town. Just the act of giving Tiger a ticket (or God forbid doing a freaking blood draw) would send the wrong message to the people who matter in that area.

There's about a 0.00000439% chance he wasn't ripped out of his gourd on Vicodins or Oxys. That sheriff was hilarious. It was the fastest, "He wasn't intoxicated!!!" I've ever heard.

A guy with a long history of opioid abuse and driving under the influence of opioids...in a one-car crash, at ridiculously high speed, after giving an interview a few days before where he was clearly impaired (look it up on YT), with no other likely cause...and the sheriff goes on camera 30 seconds after the accident saying he wasn't messed up and there would be no charges.

Nah, he didn't get cash. That ain't the deal. The deal as a civil servant in those places is see no evil, hear no evil. Dude probably clears a few hundred grand a year and will have a pension worth $6 or $8 million when he retires. But you can't spook the residents who stroke the tax checks. If they ring up Tiger, they scare common resident Jones that the cops are gonna ring up his old lady when she's running over to Whole Foods for some quinoa when she's ripped out of her gourd on her breakfast wine or pills.

Sheriff Coltrane lost his pension and that is what turned him into Jefferson Davis "Boss" Hogg's henchman. Season 1, Episode 1 of Dukes is one of the best 44 minute segments of television ever produced.
