OT: Steve Lavin

I will chip in that the Iowa recruit left of his own accord , he chose to leave, the recruits of Lavins are not eligible to play, there is a huge difference, as for his background only clowns like you are still hung up on that

How has Steve Lavin cheated? Obviously there are different levels of cheating. I would certainly say Iowa has one of the cleanest administrations in the NCAA too. I just don't understand the constant need to call everyone else dirty or cheaters.

not calling Lavin anything, but i will make it clear that comparing a Iowa recruit that chose to leave on his own, to a group of players that were declared ineligible and harp on the kids past is out of line,

You can believe whatever makes you feel good about the Hubbard situation.

I know for a fact that Hubbard was fully qualified to play, Lavin' player's were not, big difference, Hubbards past is not the issue other than to you, as far as i can tell on the other boards Hubbard is not even the discussion when talking about Lavin's recruits, but if it makes you feel superior to keep ragging on a kid that has left on his own, go for it, but don't keep dragging the rest of us with your stupidity

No, it just drives me crazy when fans act morally superior to another university when no one is innocent in today's NCAA culture.

No one is innocent? I admit, it may seem that way, but I am sure there are programs following the rules. Probably the ones at the bottom looking up.:(

Not sure that Lavin ever really "cheated" but he was on the staff with Harrick that got UCLA in a little bit of trouble. However, Harrick moved on to Georgia, I believe and ended up in trouble there as well, so how much was Lavin involved at UCLA? Probably not much. My issue with Lavin is that I don't think he is a good coach and he really should have done his homework, yeah they had to replace a ton of players, but it is also smart to get players in that will be eligible with that significant of losses to one's roster.
Why was it that Lavin left UCLA? You know a lot about Lavin, enlighten me.:D

I am not arguing that he is John Wooden. I am saying that everyone seems to be taking chances these days. This is especially true when you are at a place like Iowa or St. John's where there is a long road back to relevancy. You have to take some chances with academic risks or people with shotty histories. I just don't get why people feel the need to harp on Lavin, who is also battling cancer. He will likely still get these recruits on campus next season, and guess what, he will likely have made St. John's relevant 2 years after having to replace 11 players in one off season. I appreciate you at least having legitimate reasons for not liking him too much.

That's what I was waiting to hear. People think he is slimy because of his "look" which says it all.

You aren't the only one, it is funny, that is why I responded...perception is everything...well, not always.
Being a coach myself, the perception of me is not reality...ask the kids that I coach.
Lavin is not "slimy" he just has a persona with his look, people believe what they want to and the sad part is that even when the opposite is true and it is proven time and time again, it still doesn't matter.

I don't think it has been proven time and time again that Lavin is on the straight and narrow.
