OT: Oregon suspends Masoli for entire season

How overrated was this guy? He couldn't shake the OSU defense (the only good one he faced all season) OR a frat boy on a mission!?!?
 
Will he REALLY be suspended for the whole season...i mean it worked so well last year with that thug rb.
 
it not like he loses anything with this punishment though. He still gets to keep his scholarship and it seems as though he gets to redshirt so he doesnt lose his eligibility. His thug running back is only getting a game suspension for his actions as well. Kelly has dismissed players for FAR less behaviors and yet these guys are still on the team.......
 
i wonder if this now makes oregon's preseason ranking falter some with all their off field disciplinary issues to address come september.

I would say their preseason ranking would have to drop if they are losing their starting QB for the entire season.

I say this with no knowledge about their back up QB
 
running back in jail. qb stealing (reportedly), another player that punches an opponent. cant imagine kelly is in belloti's good graces.
 
i just hope that Kelly doesn't turn chicken and lower the sentance again towards the end of the season like he did with Blunt so they could have a chance to win.
 
This is a HUGE blow for Oregon. They were returning 20 of 22 starters from this year's Pac 10 title team....Masoli is a great talent on the field. Ohio State has a pretty good defense, putting it mildly. They were going to be a chic pick to play for the national title this year, and it would not have been a reach. Now, without Masoli, I don't know that you will say that. Big blow.

That's not going to happen. If he lowers the sentence, he burns Masoli's last year of eligibility for maybe 4, 5 games tops (assuming Kelly followed the Blount timeline). Masoli still has a redshirt, and I'd wager he takes it, and comes back next year for the whole season. So Kelly would be smart to redshirt him and stick with the season-long suspension.
