OT: LOL...down goes Wichita.

An Illinois State win could bump Indiana or Illinois out of the tourney.

I think Illinois is comfortably out now as it stands. They'd need to do some serious damage in the Big 10 tourney to have a chance. Indiana is very bubbly but if they win two in the Big 10 tourney I think they sneak in.

CBS just showed Jerry Palm has them both in his last four in as of today, but I think both need a couple wins in the B10 tournament as you know there will be a few upsets in other conferences.

Gotta give UNI props for the comeback.

Undoubtedly we'll be granted an appearance by a certain ISU/UNI fan soon. Telling us all about it.

Happy for UNI.

All you have to see about the MVC is that Indiana St has a decent winning conf record of 11-7 yet are not even .500 overall , not sure if I have seen that kind of thing much.

So I am hoping with the UNI win that the MVC only gets 2 in the dance, I doubt Illlinois St is getting an at large, ARE THEY??????

I believe there was an appearance by former Iowa standout Dean Oliver on the Illinois State bench.

Indeed. Dean Oliver left North Dakota to become an assistant at Illinois State this season. Jeff Horner replaced Dean as director of basketball operations for North Dakota.

There is a good chance Horner will be looking for a job next week I think the Brian Jones experiment is about to come to an end at UND.

By RPI, even Rutgers higher than half of the MVC: Indiana St, Missouri St, Drake, Southern Ill and Bradley. Take off the bottom two teams of the Big 10 and only three of the MVC schools are higher than twelfth place Northwestern: UNI, Wichita St and Illinois St. Here are the current RPI ratings for the two conferences: (RPI rating, School, Strength of Schedule rating)

MVC
#15 Northern Iowa 152
#17 Wichita St 109
#68 Illinois St 78
#112 Evansville 126
#115 Loyola (Chi) 125
#190 Indiana St 143
#240 Missouri St 99
#269 Drake 89
#277 Southern Ill 227
#281 Bradley 110

Big 10
#6 Wisconsin 21
#9 Maryland 48
#27 Michigan St 19
#32 Ohio St 91
#37 Iowa 26
#56 Purdue 68
#57 Indiana 24
#59 Illinois 64
#82 Minnesota 52
#88 Michigan 9
#110 Northwestern 39
#126 Penn St 84
#127 Nebraska 57
#164 Rutgers 11

So UNI has the second easiest strength of schedule rating, and only two schools in the Big 10 have had easier schedules than EVERY school in the MVC. As deanvogs so aptly puts it #onebidleague
And yet some Big 10 and Big 12 schools won't schedule MVC teams so that's one reason their RPIs are lower. They have to play other 150-250 RPI teams because the big conferences are outbidding them for the 250-300+ RPI teams.

We've seen the evidence in this state. Iowa and ISU don't want to play both schools the same year and definitely not home-and-home.

I love coming to a Big 10 board and seeing a play by play run down of our win. Thanks for the respect.
Hardly play-by-play with about 15 posts commenting on UNI or more accurately, most of them trolling you. They stopped when UNI won which is when you showed up. What a shock. Speaking of which, What's the title of this thread? Never mind. It's rhetorical.
