OT: For The BBQ Folks...

I smoke pork shoulders on a regular basis, use it for pulled pork, tacos, omelettes, quesadillas, fajitas, chili, all kids of stuff.

My HyVee is usually $3.19/lb. I went back this afternoon and bought 3 more, so I have 7 total in my freezer. The total weight is right at 62 lbs. Buying them when the deal is on saved me $136 vs regular price. That’s real money to me.
Yea I'm sorry. That's cool. I'm part meat-eating caveman myself but not as prepared. But I'm willing to pay for my mistakes :)

I've smoked so much pulled pork I've gotten sick of it (even though I just did one on Sat). I actually started doing more beef roasts and making pulled beef sandwiches. Can't tell if I like it better with A1 (which I could literally drink) or horseradish mayo. First game I'm smoking a brisket and making some chili with the leftovers - so stoked!

Oh yeah, Fry have you tried this recipe yet to make some sammiches? I've made it thrice on the PBC and the kids love it. If you ever see chuck roast on sale, it is a good way to diversify your cooking strategies a little bit.

Yeah I think these are my new favorite. Obviously much more expensive but after pork ribs/pulled pork/pork loin/pork tenderloin - I needed to find a way to get some extra beef in my life! Actually did an italian stuffed meatloaf a few weeks ago, was amazing!

Sans Doritos, Old Dutch kicks the crap out of Frito Lay.

It's like Mello Yello trying to compete with Mountain Dew. Can't believe sixteen years have gone by since I drove an Old Dutch route. That was before Tate to Holloway, just to list one point of reference.

That's a one day bar tab for @earlkoppelman
:)

@Fryowa Little off topic but headed up your way for a playoff football game tomorrow night. The wife and I wanna try somewhere new in Sioux City that we have't been too - which is most places in SC. What are some go to places for you up there?

Not sure if you’re looking for semi fancy or just neighborhood type places, Bob Roe’s Point After is always a choice for me, great pizza and wings and it’s a very hometown type place. Bob Roe is a good dude and he’s been running it since ‘77 I think, this building since the 90s. He’s real involved in the community and local sports, it’s one of my faves. He also owns Westside Pizza and both places have the best pizza in SC by far (my own opinion)

SoHo is really good, Sneaky’s is a hole in the wall chicken joint that my kid and I really like, Buffalo Alice is a hangout type place with a good atmosphere....

Clyde’s Pub and Grill ain’t bad either.

Diamond Thai is good if you or your wife like Asian, if you’re looking for a fancy expensive steakhouse Kahill’s in South Sioux is really nice. You ain’t gonna walk out of there for less than a hundo and a half though. Minerva’s tries to be a fancy joint but I’ve never been too impressed.

Since you’re coming up for a Friday high school game I assume you’re looking for a neighborhood hangout joint with good food and atmosphere, if I was gonna meet you in the Soo and and take you to a spot it’d be Bob Roe’s. We like it there.

Any of those places will pop right up on google.

I think we are leaning towards Clyde's since we are heading to Lawton Bronson HS and it's the least out of route. Sounds great. Thanks for the advice

No Prob.

Strictly informational, but Bob Roe's is on Morningside Drive, and if you're coming up 29 is the same drive time wise from the Morningside exit as Clyde's is from Singing Hills. Bob Roe's is the exact same time to the Lawton school as well according to the Googlizer. You just take Transit Ave right from there to Hwy 20.

Not trying to sway your decision, but if I had to choose one I'd pick BR's and they're the same time on the road. You won't go wrong with either.

You may have swayed my choice brother, I was wanting to do Bob Roes more anyways, just thought the other place looked more convenient

Great, now I'm hungry lol.... question for all you pitmasters out there...can a guy pull out a frozen butt and throw it on the smoker and get edible results? Not sure I can wait for this fucker to thaw now that I've got pulled pork nachos on the brain. Thanks!
Certainly not recommended. I suppose it could be done but it won't cook evenly. I would leave it out all day and do it tomorrow but that's just me.

You’d burn the outside before the inside got thawed. Fastest way to thaw it is to put it in a sink full of water and change the water every 15-30 mins. Should only take a couple hours.
