OSU's Thomas declares for NBA draft

I still think Ohio St is a Top 15 team preseason without him, maybe higher.

Probably true. At least a top-25 team for sure. Regardless though, good news. Now just if Burke and Robinson decide to make the jump (fingers crossed!).

I think Burke is gone, along with Oladipo. I think Zeller is NBA lean, not sure on Hardaway and Glen Robinson. I believe both Payne and Harris will return for MSU. If Oladipo and Zeller go, I put Iowa over Indiana for 4th.

I'm glad he's leaving, although I have a bad feeling OSU will actually be better without him. They had to hide him defensively and they tended to lean on him on offense for long periods of time. I can easily see a more balanced offensive attack improving OSU next year, especially if Ross makes a major leap.

It will be interesting to see if Thomas sticks in the NBA, the dude can get buckets but he's a bit of a volume scorer and is a tweener on defense.

I sure hope he sneaks into the 1st round. I like Thomas...solid player and never saw him talking garbage to the other team. I hope he sticks if he does go in the 2nd round.

I don't think this is a huge shock. He has a son that is a little over a year old. I suspect this may have been a factor.

I thought he was gone as soon as I read the letter he put in the school newspaper congratulating all of the lesser known athletes at OSU.

And in other news, the world is round.

It's easy to see who is going pro. Thomas has a kid and there's little to gain by him coming back, OSU will be good regardless. There's only about 1-2 guys in the BIG that are "on the fence"

Don't see them being better, when he didn't score, they didn't win. Ross has kind of broke out, but this is over a short span, not sure if he will long term, or can the that go-to guy when Thomas is gone.

OSU will be a top-25 team, but can't see them a top-15 team. Craft will have to be a 15+ pt scorer on a game to game basis, don't see that happening. Take away his right hand and well, he is done.

Marc Loving will determine how good that team will be. If he gets stronger, he would be my early favorite for Big Ten FOY and he plays with a ton of effort on every play. He started as a Jr. on the same all-star team as Woodbury/Gesell/GR3 that was on ESPN last Spring, kid can flat out play. If Thomas were to come back with him in the fold, I would say Top 5 team, Loving could be that much of an impact player, if and only if, he comes in stronger than he was in HS.

False. Woodbury, Marble and McCabe = 3 on Iowa alone. Moron.

You must not have watched the same guy I did - I thought he was a C*** .... I remember at him laughing at White after he blocked his shot a few times - looked at him like "you are a joke son." There were a couple other times also I remember him acting like he thought he was big chit.

I think the natural and safe thing is to underrate Iowa with its athletic comparisons - but if you look at pts/experience and quality coming back Iowa has more then OSU.

OSU maybe has more "potential" coming back but not as much proven production.

We aren't yet at the same level as OSU but Thomas leaving them is the same as if Marble left IA this year. Who's going to be the go-to scorer? You know OSU has the talent to be a top team, but how is it going to shake out with the numbers and chemistry?

Ohio State still has talent...no question about it. A lot of guys also had more freedom and drew less attention because Thomas was the primary focus of every team's defense. Him not being there to draw all of the attention could make some of his teammates look less intimidating...

If Marble left, I wouldn't be concerned about Iowa basketball, just as I wouldn't be too worried about OSU without Thomas. Iowa doesn't have as much talent as OSU, but it doesn't mean Iowa would be nothing without Marble. OSU leaned on Thomas so much, but unless some guys have huge years for them without Thomas, they won't be a Top 15 team.
