Oregon's recruits??

Wait - how many of Oregon's recruits is Iowa actually recruiting? Zero? They are just gonna pack up and leave and come to Iowa?

Is this serious?

Better than going down on a sinking ship.

Anything is better than going down on a sinking ship. But 1. Oregon is probably going to be just fine, and 2. If they're going to bail, don't you think they'd probably sign with one of the other schools that were recruiting them, rather than randomly come to Iowa?

It wouldn't hurt to give them a call. The other schools that was recruiting them have probably filled their quota.

I think Oregon is about get hit with penalties by th NCAA.

Sure, it can't hurt. But it's HIGHLY unlikely to help, too. We have no relationship with those players, and building one less than two weeks from signing day is a very tall task. They'll go to another school that recruited them. The odds of ALL of those schools having filled their limit are pretty long. If we're still trying to fill slots, odds are so are at least a few of those other schools.

Cal most likely just had a couple of spots open up.

The frustrating thing about the Oregon recruits is that they have a few kids we should have been in on. Brown and Stanford are Midwest guys with a bunch of B1G offers and Bair is an IWCC guy.

They're going to be fine? Great, over what time period are you referring to, because they are probably looking at sanctions from the NCAA sometime in the not-to-distant future. In the short term they might take their licks. I'm sure 12 months ago you weren't predicting O$U would have a losing season in 2011

Did I expect a losing season? No. But I certainly didn't expect a great deal from OSU given that they would be without Pryor/Herron/Posey for at least half the season.

USC didn't take a huge hit with their sanctions. They "suffered" through an 8-5 season, and now they're primed to emerge from their 2-year punishment as a national championship contender. If Oregon follows a similar path (and as of right now there are no sanctions), I wouldn't call that a "sinking ship".

Oregon still has Kenjon Barner and DeAnthony Thomas (serious superstar in the making), and there's been a lot of speculation that part of the reason Darron Thomas left was because he'd be in a QB battle this spring. Oregon will get a new coach, but there's no way they change their offense.

I say again: Oregon will probably be fine.

I do not understand why he would leave a program like Oregon where he should be able to pretty much name his price for an unstable NFL job like Tampa Bay. The only good reason I can think of is he is looking to jump before the ship starts taking on water.

I honestly don't care if Oregon keeps competing at the level they have been playing at. Iowa does not play them year after year but looking at how good Oregon has gotten over the past few years makes you wonder how and why.
