Orange Bowl TV Rankings

The Minny/ISU game was viewed by 400,000 people. That means Southern Miss/Middle Tennessee, Marshall/Ohio and Central Michigan/Troy had better viewership than a game involving Big 12/Big 10. OUCH!!

Hawks had more than 6.2 million viewers if you want a comparison.

The Insight Bowl was on the NFL network and as such availalbe to a fraction of the homes the Iowa game, or those other games you mentioned. It was also on New Years Eve which means if you weren't a fan of either Minny/Iowa State or a complete looser you had other things going on.

The Orange Bowl rating is respectable.

+1 not everyone can get the NFL Network... damn you mediacom...

The Orange Bowl ranked 6th out of all the bowls. The Insight Bowl was dead last.

Insight bowl got a .5 or something. If i was insight, i'd want to rethink my sponsorship of that bowl, i would think, unless they just spend a ridiculously low amount of money for the naming rights. Classic Clown.

They might also put some pressure on the bowl organizers to rethink their television deal. NFL network is not the place to be. I hate to say it, but this is a case where they need to join the ESPN bandwagon. NFL network is just way to limited for this game to pull any kind of significant ratings.

I think the ratings for the Orange bowl are lower from a Tuesday night game, but still up from last year.

From poster Micheal1969 on the Rivals free board:

1. BCS Title Game 30.8 million, up 4 million from last year
2. Rose 24.0 million, up 3.4 million
3. Sugar 15.5 million, up 2.1 million
4. Fiesta 13.8 million, down 4.3 million
5. Capital One 11.6 million, up 800,000
6. Orange 10.9 million, up 1.6 million
7. Alamo 7.8 million, up 1.7 million
8. Emerald 7.6 million, up 1.1 million
9. Chick-Fil-A 7.5 million, up 1.9 million
10. Cotton 7.3 million, up 900,000
11. Liberty 6.5 million, up 2.9 million
12. Gator 6.4 million, down 200,000
13. Champs Sports 6.2 million, down 900,000
14. Holiday 6.1 million, down 100,000
15. Meineke Car Care 6.1 million, up 200,000
16. Outback 5.7 million, up 1.6 million
17. Sun 5.0 million, up 1.5 million
18. Little Caesar's 3.8 million, up 400,000
19. Poinsettia 3.7 million, down 1.4 million
20. New Mexico 3.6 million, up 200,000

23. Independence 3.3 million, up 2.1 million
24. Texas 3.2 million, up 3 million
25. Humanitarian 3.0 million, even
26. Hawaii 2.9 million, down 1.5 million
27. Music City 2.8 million, down 800,000
28. EagleBank 2.8 million, down 100,000
29. St. Petersburg 2.5 million, up 800,000
30. PapaJohns 2.5 million, up 100,000
31. Armed Forces 2.2 million, up 100,000
32. International 1.6 million, down 1.1 million
33. New Orleans 993,000, down 200,000
34. Insight 673,000, even

22 bowls were up in viewers, 10 were down, and 2 stayed even. Overall, bowl viewership was up 20.6 million viewers over last year (or about 600,000 more viewers per game).

Cumulative Viewers By Conference
1. SEC 93.351 million (9.335 million per team)
2. Big Ten 66.939 million (9.563 million per team)
3. Big Twelve 64.155 million (8.019 million per team)
4. Pac Ten 52.783 million (7.540 million per team)
5. ACC 47.501 million (6.786 million per team)
6. Big East 34.602 million (5.767 million per team)
7. Mountain West 26.860 million (5.372 million per team)
8. WAC 23.368 million (5.842 million per team)
9. C-USA 18.826 million (3.138 million per team)
10. MAC 14.713 million (2.943 million per team)
11. Sun Belt 4.511 million (2.256 million per team)

The Big 10 had the highest average per bowl team. Which is actually quite impressive, when you consider the Big 10 had a team in the lowest-viewed bowl game. When people wonder why the Big 10 & SEC command such strong bowl slots, the numbers seem to speak for themselves. It'll be interesting to see how it shakes out next year with Big 10 facing SEC in 3 New Year's Day games, in addition to the 2 other New Year's Day games the Big 10 will have (Dallas Football Classic & the Rose).

I AM SO PROUD...NO! LISTEN TO ME! LISTEN TO ME!

I AM SO PROUD, TO BE DEAD LAST!

~Paul Rhoads after seeing the ratings

What bowl game was KF in his first year? This bowl game was dead last last year, its on the NFL Network 3/4 of the nation doesn't even get the channel, 80% of Iowa's could not even watch it, CPR can't change that, plus it was Minnesota. Just remember HawkeyeShane, it took three years for KF to even have a winning season, fear CPR.

LOL. I get the NFL network isn't in everyones home argument but then to go on and say stuff like fear CPR and saying crap about KF just won't get you anywhere. CPR has a hell of a long way to go before he is feared, maybe winning the mighty big 12 north can be his first step and then if that ever happens he is more than likely gone.

I think the Cyclones have a good coach in Paul Rhodes, but really lighten up Francis. This is a Hawk board after all, the Cyclones might take a shot or two. I mean I know the cyclone fans are above taking shots at the Hawks on their boards.....RIIIIGHTTTTT

Just remember ISU4LYF, I don't have to remember anything as I will poke fun at everything...and I'm sure not going to fear anything, but fear itself...and spiders...snakes...walking sticks, for some reason...but I digress...

apples to oranges dude. completely different coaches and situations they inherited. but props to isu for making a bowl game....too bad they couldnt have played auburn though. would have been nice payback, eh?

Also, except for a once in a century, 8 turnover fluke in Lincoln, I don't think ISU beat anyone with a winning record last year.....so no, nobody is going to fear PR or the clones. Come back with 7 wins at this time next year, after a schedule that includes some respectable b12 teams (those not in the north), and we can talk.

You know, there are several occurances when I warn the posters here that they are behaving like ISU fans. This is exhibit A. You want to do whatever possible not be act liek this guy.
