Orange Bowl date

I hope not to anger anyone,.....

but doesn't it seem like bowl season is over? Cripes it seems like the hawks are playing weeks after the other bowls are over. I personally can't stand having the orange bowl date so far off from New years day. Put the major bowls back on New years day. THis is ridiculous. I have to watch Iowa play in the middle of the work week. It will not seem like the orange bowl to me. Jan 5th????!!! get real.
 
if you feel as though bowl season is over before a national champion is crowned, then i guess so
 
I don't mind the date being after Jan 1. It puts the teams that earned BCS games in the spotlight on primetime. It all takes place the week of Jan 1 so it's not too far off of NYD. As far as being in the middle of the week, the way I look at it is that it is really no different than if NYD landed in the middle of the week. Either way the next day is a work day.

What I dont care for is these lesser bowls all moving to Jan 1,2 and beyond. To me most of those Bowls should be played before Jan 1. I don't lose sleep over it but don't really care for it either.
 
This is not directed strictly at the OP, but I've never heard so many people ***** and moan over a BCS bowl game in my life.

Who cares what the dates are. Or that it's Orange and not the Fiesta. Or who our opponent is. It's our second BCS bowl game since they came up with the system. Who knows when we'll back again. Try and enjoy the moment.

Having said that, my plane to Miami leaves in a few hours. Let's go Hawks!!!!
 
Damn right burky!!!! Have a great time and cheer extra loud for those of us who could not make it down there this year!
 
Will do Deputy. I'm not even bummed about the colder temps forecast. Anything's gonna feel like summer compared to what we've been experiencing here. :)
 
I think the Fiesta Bowl will get everyone back in tune tonight. We flew into Orlando last night. It is chilly down here this AM, 28 degrees. The cold front is gonna stay here thru
the week at least. It will be perfect "Iowa Football Weather"! Let's Go Hawks!

I do think that the weather helped Wisky a little at least vs Miami. The hurricane players were all huddled up on the sidelines while the Badgers were loving the temps. Since I'm not down there in Miami, I'm perfectly fine that the temps are cool.:)
 
I hope not to anger anyone.....I am certainly not griping about being in the orange bowl. However I loved the good ole days when THe last bowl was played at 8 PM on new years day. Those were the days.

Totally agree. I hate the BCS. I want a playoff or go back to the old system and it ends on new years day.
 
I agree... It seemed like New Year's was the end of the bowl season. Before you know it they'll be stretching them out to February. Go from football to March madness in a few weeks! Oh... we don't do March Madness. :(
 
If they want each of the BCS games to have its own night, that's cool. But Fiesta should have been on Saturday the 2nd and we should be playing tonight. Period, end of discussion. A BCS or OB person was quoted in the Press-Citizen last week that they had to avoid Saturday because of the NFL-- there wasn't a single NFL game on Saturday!!! Hopefully with ESPN airing them instead of FOX they'll get the schedule better starting next year.

Agreed. I liked it when playing in a January bowl game meant something. The term "January bowl game" lost its luster with the Alamo Bowl (and others) moving into January.

I have to agree. And I certainly don't like all these bowl games being played in January now. There is no cache to being in a January bowl game any longer. A BCS game, yes.
 
Well there is not a lot of coverage of the BCS games on Fox this year. I cannot wait until ESPN takes over the BCS television next year. Iowa and GTech are basically getting NO national exposure at all. I dont mind it but for BCS games, the Fiesta and Orange Bowl arent getting the exposure they deserve........
