Opinions from the opposition

3 things:

1) What in the heck was Iowa doing on offense? As bad as our defense has been, and as porous as it has been against the run, why did you not ride Coker, and make us stop him? Early on, there was plenty of rushing room available, but it seemed like you got too cute and tried slinging the ball around. I don't get that at all

2) Holy crap the Big 10 refs are horrible. I have seen plenty of questionable calls/inconsistent reffing all year, but that "Chop Block" called on Caputo was so horrible even Bob Davie commented on it.

3) It was tough to tell for sure, but it looked like (to me) that there was a lot of black in the stands. I wish that Hawk fans would have wore yellow as so they would stand out better, but if most of that black was Iowa fans, it was the best representation of an opposing fan base that I have ever seen in Lincoln. If that is the case, props to you, Hawk fans.

I hope you had a good time in Lincoln, regardless of the outcome of the game.

1. I dont know
2. One bad call does not make for horrible refs
3. Thank you??

Hope you enjoy throttling us every year now that our coaching staff has set us on the path of decline.....please keep playing us when (if) we ever get good again!

You obviously know nothing of the history of our offensive coordinator! ;)

Thanks for the post... I'm not sure what the coaches saw (I am SURE they saw something I didn't see on TV) but it does follow their historic trend to try play action around the opponents 40. It seems like we could have riden Coker (we were owning the LOS) but maybe that was part of the strategy to take some of the burden off of him. That's why I openly wonder about the reasons for the 1 back strategy when Kirk has clearly employed a two back strategy in the past.

Davie did not call the chop block call "horrible." He said that keeping the athletes from being injured is the refs' job and it is important.

Im trying to keep out of here for fear of my head. But i will say this, no joke Iowa fans travel. It was hard to tell who was a Hawkeye fan or a Husker fan because we wear black also. But when a play went Iowas way you could hear your fans get into it. Heres looking forward to next years game in IA City.

I didn't say that, and I don't think that it was the time he made that comment. I thought that he made that comment after Caputo was called for clipping earlier in the game. IDK about the clipping call, I think that they may have changed the rules, but back when I played, it was almost impossible to get a clip called on an OL. Not sure about (clipping) now, but the chop block was a horrible call, clearly blown by the officials.

There were plenty of PI/defensive holding calls that were either very ticky tack or inconsistent. Also, quite a few obvious offensive holding calls that weren't made. I realize that the refs will never be perfect, it is what it is, I guess.

Clipping call was a pretty good call I thought. Chop block, not so much.

1. We have the same question.
2. Did you watch the UT-aTm game last night?
3. Lots of little yellow dots in the crowd.

1. Because O'Keefe likes to make us all wonder. I don't know why we don't go to our strengths more often. I thought you were supposed to feed the hungry hand.

Just left the game....as far as loudness memorial is WAY overrated. Rank it behind shoe, big house, happy valley and madison. Comparable to kinnick.

Well, we had that playmaker O'Keefe working his magic running the offense with his seven play playbook.

We had a defensive coordinator who no longer recruits nor gets on the field with his players and continues to run the same in effective defense he has had for several years.

And we have the magic man Kirk Ferntz running a typical uninspired football program.

It looked like Ferentz didn't even want to be at the game...one of his soap operas were on this afternoon during the game, and he wanted to get home to watch it...

Our staff forgot that we were playing a game today...someone should have reminded him, the coaches, and the team they were playing another B1G team today. They probably forgot and thought the game was tomorrow...THEY are ready for the NE/Iowa game tomorrow.

Another game where Ferentz and the Iowa staff were simply out coached and out game planned AGAIN. But that doesn't and hasn't taken much the past few years has it...

I honestly don't know, you could be right. It seems to me like they call it a little differently now than they used to. But it could be me "mis-remembering" some things.
