My personal opinion on my 2 preferred Expansion options:
Option 1: Add one team (Notre Dame) - split the league into 2 divisions and create a Big 10 Championship game.
I think the divisions would look something like this:
West Division: Iowa, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Northwestern, Minnesota, Illinois
East Division: Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, MSU, Purdue, Indiana
This is the simplest solution and I think Jim Delaney and the Big 10 would take it if ND would ever agree to it.
Option 2: Add 3 teams (Notre Dame, Texas, Nebraska)
The divisions would have to be split differently, but I would love the idea of seeing these teams in the Big 10. I think more fans think that Missouri or some other East Coast team are more likely to join than Notre Dame, but I have no interest in seeing Rutgers, UCONN or Syracuse in the Big 10.
That's my two cents. It sounds like no final decision will be made until the start of the 2012 football season at the earliest, so there will be plenty of time for other scenarios to be laid out.
