Opening Line vs. Tenn Tech.....

40 always seems too high for a Ferentz coached team. I think I would expect something like 42-7

40 seems way to far off. As young as we'll be, I see us getting up early, going conservative, and mass substitutions, I'd be suprised (for the reasons listed, not based on talent) if we win by more than 30.

Even 30 is a bit high if you ask me. I wouldnt be surprised to see a large rotation either. 21 is enough of a cushion at any point in the game that we should be seeing some real depth then. No sence in it, if not.
Is Cokers #21? It ought to be. Everytime the cushion gets broke, punish them.:)

We'll get 30 in the 1st half and set on it.
Yeah, I never liked that half and half. No reason we cant get 21 1st quater, put in 2nds, if they keep the cushion there, let them play 2nd quarter, if not replace a few here or there until the cushion is back at 21, but by the 4th quarter, I always think you should be seeing atleast 3 deep for sure if not 4 in some spots. Is'nt that what non-cons are for? I mean yes, we play 2 BCS schools ;):D:D . Who's the other big ten team that does ??

Iowa St -11 against UNI? I would take UNI to cover.

I think Iowa -40 is pretty high, but would love to see the offense put up 50+ points.

I see something like a 28 - 0 halftime lead and then winning by something like 38 - 7 or something. Similar to last years E. Illinois game. Don't give anything away for opponents to see on film. Just keep it simple and let our superior athletes take care of business.

ISU and UNI is ISU -11 and you take UNI to cover? Good luck with that.

Yeah, no kidding. I mean, Iowa State has the most talented team they've had in the Paul Rhodes era. I am thinking the line should be somewhere around the lines of ISU -700.

On a serious note, get over yourself. Iowa State is one of the worst BCS teams in the country, starting a new QB, against one of the most talented FCS teams around. UNI covering is definitely a possibility.

For those into wagering/point spreads a Hawkeye grad is the executive producer of a new TV show called LINEMAKERS. It airs Friday night at 7 pm on HD Theater. It has the 5 or 6 men from Vegas who set the lines each week talking about the upcoming games. It's must see for fantasy and wagering fans.

I assume they just talk about the lines for Top 25 teams? Not sure how they could cover all the games unless the show was 2-3 hours long.

Also, any idea what channel "HD Theater" is on DirecTV? I'm sure I could look it up, but why bother if somebody already knows.

Iowa State is a lot better than you think. They will defeat UNI soundly.

Iowa will defeat the Cyclones in a close game in week 2.

If Coker is playing in the second half against Tech, Coach Ferentz should have his head examined. We need him healthy the entire year.

Difference in this game is that Iowa's 3rd string will still be 10X better than Tenn Tech's first string. Tenn Tech is a below .500 team in the OVC. I reallly like Iowa to pound them. I see 4 different RB's scoring TD's.

Iowa State will cover 11 with ease. I'm pretty realistic when it comes to Iowa State and the last 2 years I've predicted them to be worse than they have been, but this team has to much for UNI. Iowa State will be by 3 TD's

God, I can't remember the last time we won by 40......

How about last year against Ball St, 45-0.

I would take Iowa and lay the 40, I think this game is going to be like the opening games in 08 that Iowa won against Maine 46-3 and FIU 42-0. And the Maine game was with JC at QB for 2 and a half quarters and Iowa still put up 46.
