OPEN LETTER TO FRAN

Kind of a off topic question but is our youth really writing letters with ummmmm in it? When I went to school we tried to avoid saying um, even making a game out of it.

Basketballman..thanks for perhaps the worst post I've ever read on any message board.

This one is bad no doubt, but you must have missed the many posts by herbyhawk. Last night the guy actually posted that, in reference to Iowa, he saw a "quick team". Anyone who has watched even 2 mins of Iowa bball this year knows such a comment is pure drivel.

Perhaps they meant quick-sand.;)

I have been holding onto my massive facepalm for a while, but I don't think I'll ever read anything more worthy...

can you copy that post that you accuse me of making
i recall making a refeerence to White being quicker than people claim,
just not the team
we do have some athletes on this team just not enough

I think the OP included some valid points. I think what surprises me most is how some players have not improved. I think May and McCabe are okay players but honestly I don't think either are Big 10 players. They give you a good game every now and then but the consistency is just not there ... But in reality, consistency is lacking all the way around.

Open Letter To Fran:

Ummm, if you read the original post, ummmm, please remember that all Iowa fans are not like this.

BasketballMan,

I think you need to scale back your expectations a little bit, brah.

Signed,
Have some freaking patience.

I stopped reading after the demand to see Gabe more than 5 minutes.

If Iowa has to rely on Gabe Olaseni to win this year Iowa is going to be in big big trouble. He is not ready to be seeing significant minutes and really could benefit with a redshirt.

He can't be any worse than Artchie and Brommer.

Yes he can. He is young, he is raw, he has little organized basketball experience. He has a lot to learn before he is even on the same level as Archie and Brommer. Give him time. He could be really good.

Sad thing is you're right....but so is the OP...Fran DID say that Gabe was the best rebounder....and yet Iowa is absolutely pitiful on the boards....yet he doesn't play....so either A. Fran used the fans to try and pump Gabe's confidence and thought he could play us and we wouldn't know better. or B. Gabe is the best we have and for some reason Fran won't play him.

Either way it's sad....

It used to seem like you were ripping on Fran to satirize the 'anti-Kirk' crowd. Are you actually starting to believe your own jokes?

I've said I'd like to see Olaseni more, but I don't think Fran is gaming us or trotting out who he believes are inferior players. It's far from "sad." I think it's "sad" the number of people that are harping on Fran's decisions in these last few games when he's got ZERO consistent contributors to go to. Truly zero.

He showed last year he's willing to change the lineup and sets they're running. He also showed that he can get a team that plays ugly ball to pull together and figure things out by the end of the year. In a few years we'll be able to virtually sleepwalk through the non-con slate with 0-3 losses. Until then, I wouldn't get too worked up.
