Open it up - use the stage - create some excitement

Remember in the season opener last year when New Kirk faked a FG and got a standing ovation from the crowd? I think Iowa needs to come out with that same mentality for the entire game tonight.

You have a National stage and over 60 potential recruits in attendance - if there ever was an opportunity to show a glimpse of how electric Kinnick can be, this is it. Come out firing on both offense and defense - attempt multiple deep balls - send multiple LB's on blitz's - we have nothing to lose. We are predicted to lose by more than 20 and it might be much uglier than that if we play the same boring, predictable, lifeless brand of football that we have seen the past few weeks.

Now I fully realize that we probably come out and run 2 off tackle runs to Daniels for 3 yards and then take a sack with CJ not even leaving the pocket, but wouldn't it be a welcome surprise to come out and run 3 straight deep attempts - I don't even care if you complete them - just TRY throwing the ball downfield more than 20 yards!!

Jay Scheel has less than 60 yards on the season - send him on a go route and just let CJ bomb one and see what happens - can't be any worse than the result that we will get on a constant stream of 3 and outs for the whole game. Use the middle of the field - we saw that Jerminic Smith can do some things if you get him the ball.

Desmond has 3 regular season games left as a Hawk - put him in on a couple of offensive plays and give him the ball in space - give the crowd some reason to try to explode and give a boost to the team. Take advantage of the environment and do some things that are not expected.

At a bare minimum, run an up tempo attack all night - the players themselves (CJ, Wadley) have come out and said they enjoy running up tempo and the results have shown that the offense at least shows a consistent pulse when running up tempo.

Make it a memorable night, not a forgettable one. Change things up, show a willingness to adjust - give the fans an opportunity to stand up and cheer - stand up for the chance to be relevant on a big stage - most likely all pipe dreams - but I will keep dreaming.

i've been saying this for several seasons, now. ain't gonna happen. would love for it to happen, but we now have proof ferentz is just ultra conservative and won't change. ferentz is trying to figure out how to limit total possessions for both teams. the issue is that iowa won't score on most, if not all, of their possessions and UM will.

Whenever Ferments attempts to do something out of character, it flops 99% of the time because the team is too scared that they will screw it up and be forced to wear white shoes with dorky knee high socks....wait, they already do that.

totally agree with the OP. We have some fast receivers but we dont stretch the field. Yet the history of best I formation teams include many that go deep a lot, move the safeties back and also run the ball. throw over the top of the safeties. Even some stodgy teams Bear Bryant had threw the ball long as he had Namath and Stabler and others.

Were you asleep when you typed this, cause this is the ultimate dream for Iowa football fans.

Or go the whole first quarter without a first down to lull them to sleep. Either one will work, I know which is more likely.

Odds are, Hawks will lose anyway, so why not let the kid have fun? Wide open offense, stunts and blitzes on defense.

We just need to find a way to execute better than the team that is way more talented than us. We should be fine because I'm sure they spent the entire week perfecting perfect blocking technique.

If you had read an recent CJ interview, he took some of the blame for not attempting to throw the ball downfield..

I read a couple of Meeshigan fans comments that KF is anti-KF when facing Mich. Throw the trends out the window they say. Michigan is Iowa's super bowl.

Grown man giggling makes his kids worried.

I think the most aggravating thing of being an Iowa fan during the Ferentz regime is knowing what the team should do on offense, but also knowing they won't do it. I guarantee we don't see jack shit change tonight. We will continue our pathetic and inept offense and get destroyed on defense because we will make zero changes. I'm already annoyed.

This. Hope will spring eternal, but we all (Iowa fans, coaches, Michigan players and coaches) know what is coming in all 3 phases of the game.
