Onside kick

Trying to justify not jumping on the ball there...is it possible that because of the DOG penalty that the hands team thought perhaps the ball had to go 15 yards rather than 10? Maybe they were just going to let it go out of bounds. IDK, I'm fishing here I know. Just can't understand that. It seems plausible that with all that confusion there were just some wires crossed. Certainly the officials were responsible for most of the confusion on that play. Also, has anyone ever seen a DOG on a kickoff? Clarification of the rules were in order there!

It was a mistake that should have been avoided. With the new rules that went into affect this year the coaching staff should have prepared every single player for the onside kick. Even if you have no idea what's going on as a player, you should jump on the ball instead of looking at it like you're half ********.

Doesn't really matter if it had to go 10 or 15 yards, that's for the kicking team being legal to touch it. The receiving team can go get it anywhere. That's why if there is an opportunity to get it before 10 yards then do it. I don't totally blame CJF as he was the second guy. I don't know who the first guy was but he look at it as if he'd lose his hand for touching it and backed off, he should have gotten it. New rules or not, they should of recovered it easily, there weren't any CMU guys close to any of them when they had a shot.
