One thing Iowa fans will have to get used to re Nebraska in hoops.

They obviously aren't a great basketball program. But, unless you are one of the top two programs in conference you had better come ready to play when you go to Nebraska. Unless things change when they go to their new arena they are typically a pretty tough out an by no means an automatic win for anyone that is less than a REALLY good team.

I live in B12 territory in KC and have seen this for years. I challenge anyone to prove me wrong with numbers, but I am pretty sure on this. They just play really tough at home and unless you were KU, or maybe Texas, you really had to work to hopefully beat them at home and it wouldn't have been out of the ordinary to lose to them at home.

Weird post after we won at Nebraska for one of our few road wins of the year.

Honestly though, winning on the road in college basketball is tough. Especially within your own conference where you are playing teams with decent talent.

I thought the post appropriate because I don't really think most Iowa fans understand that about Nebraska and I just think they might be in for a rude awakening. The Iowa teams under Tom Davis would probably fit into the category of teams that would go into Nebraska and come out of it with a loss, maybe more than half of the time.

I am not trying to be negative after a great win on the road (any win on the road is a great one for this team) but I am just saying...

Nebraska is in horrible shape. They will be graduating over 80% of their scoring this year, 4 out of their 5 starters on a team that struggles to score. You think our recruiting classes were bad under Lick? Go take a look at what Nebraska has bringing into next year.

Scout.com: Men's Basketball Recruiting

People complain when we beat a Mid Major to get a recruit, heck they get recruits that no one else even offers. I know they now have an awesome practice facility, locker rooms, tv's in the toilets but this is not football. It will take one heck of a coach to go in there and get Nebraska competitive.

They are getting a brand new arena. Their 'old one' was only 36 years old. Must have some damn deep pockets in Lincoln.

Not sure which scenario is better for us; Sadler getting canned or staying. We seem to be recruiting in the same space as NE and PSU for some of the Aaron White type players and it would be nice to be the "best of the rest" for the kids who don't get offers from the higher profile big ten teams. Hopefully this changes moving forward, but with the new arena and practice facility, it appears NE is taking hoops more seriously.

This will not be enough to get that program competitive. If they want to be competitive they are going to have to cheat.

The new arena is actually a city project as they desperately need to replace an antiquated, and undersized Pershing Center. But the only way it could have been built was if Nebraska agreed to be a major user of the space.

The Devaney Center will still be used by the university as the home for the VB program. A serious renovation is scheduled to put in sky boxes and lower the ceiling to give it a more intimate feeling for 6,000 to 9,000 fans. All of this is part of a $100 plan to add to the FB Stadium and new practice facilities for basketball, wrestling, baseball and softball. So, yes, Nebraska has been able to tap into a boatload of donor money.

With next year being the last year at the old arena, it would be appropriate if Iowa was the last home game, as they were the first opponent in the place when it was new in 1976. A 71-57 win for the Hawks.
