One of the greatest big ten games ever.

With the stakes and the way it ended... if there was ever a loss to remember this is one. I have been watching football since I went to my first Hawkeye game in 1992 and I have never seen a game with so much emotion and passion in one quarter then that 4th. Name another(near) goal line stand with that much on the line? Or a 22 play drive where it was literally inches. It was just bittersweet like Friday night lights.

The whole game was a slugfest. The goalline play had so much drama in it and so close to an epic finish for Iowa

Credit MSU - their defense made plays. The Calhoun sacks were huge for them and cost us...

It was a great game...I remember in the 2nd half it was the first time I've ever felt "we have a national championship level defense, if we win this game....we can win the whole dang thing". Before they ran out of gas.

They left it all out there and came up short....just a heartbreaking, will-crushing game.

That's a lousy moniker for a game which you lose.

Not being bitter. I am so disappointed for this team.

I just don't want to be associated with "one of the greatest games ever" when you lose that game.

Its like when your pro team is part of one of the greatest super bowls ever...on the losing side.

No, this is like one of the worst games ever. I'll never watch another solitary clip from it.

We are fans though. I just think one game shouldn't make us feel disappointed in this season. We were literally an inch from the national title. You are definetly free to feel that way, but I am going to try to find the positive in it. We just barely lost in one of the best college football games ever. Tough ending.. but I won't forget the passion of the players who were completely gassed at the end but kept fighting.

Problem is every time you see video from it you remember how it ended. Worst. Game. EVER.

Agree 100%.

I will never forget this team and the effort/passion.

I don't want a loss to be associated with the "best" ever.
I don't want to remember this game and like Thunder said, I'm never going to watch it or a clip of it.

Pretty much nailed it.

Until the defense fell back to it old bad habits of oldkirk and oldPhil with that crappy bend and break defense. Playing on its heels and hoping for a miracle. FIFY.

Just before that, I had planned to post a compliment to Iowa's defense.

You really didn't watch the last drive, did you? That wasn't Northwestern or Indiana dinking and dunking us to death. That was Scott breaking tackles at the LOS and picking up extra yards. It had nothing to do with being conservative.

I saw it as Iowa not tackling well. Scott spinning between 3 Hawk defenders to gain a 1st down come to mind. Letting Cook, their beaten up QB, gain 2-3 yards on 4th down near the goal. Having Scott drag Iowa linebackers for an extra 5 (HOW ABOUT TACKLING THE LEGS??), etc.
