One last note on Brust(this one is positive)

I know everyone is kind of sick of reading about him on this site. But I still felt this needed it's own thread.

I got a call this morning from a guy I know that coaches in Illinois. This guy is has been coaching for over 15 years, is a huge Illinois supporter, and absolutely hates the Hawks. Anyway, he started off the conversation stating that Brust could possibly end up being the most important decommit in the history of Iowa. When I asked him to expand on this, he told me that word has gotten around pretty quickly with how well McCaffery handled this whole situation. And there are a lot of coaches in the state impressed with how he kept Brust's best interests first and foremost throughout this whole process.

We all know Iowa has had some image problems within the inner circles of Chicago(if not all of Illinois). Whether you're talking about the Deon Thomas affair or Freeman's treatment by Lick(safe to say Ping was less than impressed). This guy hinted that perhaps FM may have the ability to repair the roads between Iowa City and Chitown. Although it will be a long process. I mentioned to him how well Fran has done at creating some excitement within the fanbase and what a monumental task that had to be considering our situation. All he said is..."I don't think you've seen anything yet".

I've known this guy for years. I probably only talk to him two or three times a year. Still, this is the first time I can recall talking to him where he had nothing but positive things to say about the future of Iowa basketball.

Anyway, just thought I'd add this.

Good to hear. Maybe it will pay off in the long run. Iowa comes out looking like they took the high road,no doubt.
I hope they do hire a guy like Tracy Webster,or at least someone well-knowin in the midwest AAU circles.
Could not help but notice the happy quotes from Wisky's chicago recruiter-specialist Howard Porter on the Brust outcome... as he pulls in another chicago area prep for Bo. Dukan and Brust, with Marshall coming next year and they just offered another chicago area big man.
