ONE CATCH AWAY

If that IU receiver would of caught that TD pass at the end of the game, the
Hawks would be 6-5, looking down the barrel of potentially being 6-6! WOW!! For those of you that said our defense was the strongest aspect of our team, think again! Granted our offense has not been stellar, but it has put the defense in position to close out games. And our D has not responded. FIVE 4th qtr drives this year, including IU! Just ridiculous!!!

Actually what is ridiculous is that the defense has even been in that position this year. Northwestern and IU shouldn't have been in doubt, and KF's conservative play not to lose with the lead playcalling in the the 4th qtr have kept games unnecessarily close.

Our team has not lived up to expectations, obviously! But our Defense, and certainly our defensive line has been very underwhelming most of the year!

Please, we could go both ways with that. Stop the fake punt 4th and 15 against Wisky, we win. Prior doesn't convert 4th and 10 we win, We make that extra point at Arizona on the final score we might have won. We score TD's in the Red zone at Indy we win going away. Stanzi doesn't force the deep route at NW up 17-7 in the 4th we win. We can do this all day long, close games and flukes happen every year and every game.

Absolutely - there is plenty of blame to go around in our losses. Special teams as well - like kickoff coverage problems, missed PAT's and FGs, etc. The 4th quarter defense has just been one of the problems. True, they are not getting it done late in close games this year, but there are other things that could have happened in the games that would have made that moot point. Again - no one part of the team deserves 100% of the blame IMO.

Yes all is true! But let's stick to the facts as they were!

Tied at AZ-last minute drive we lose

Ahead against Wis-last minute drive we lose

Ahead at NW-last minute drive we lose

Ahead OSU-last minute drive we lose

Yes our offense and special teams have not been great, and we should
of been way ahead in most games. But fact is, we were ahead in three
and tied in the other, and we lost all four games to last minute drives against the strongest aspect of our team. That's the fact, yes we should of had 40 some points against IU and NW, but we were ahead in the end when we needed to be and we need a stop from our defense. Yes our special teams was disaster in AZ, but we tied it up and needed our defense to force OT, we lost. OSU, didn't execute all that well and left
some points out there, but we were ahead at end. Bottomline once again, our defense could not get off the damn field!!

I like how you say you want to "stick to the facts as they were" but the whole point of this thread is to b*tch about a catch that never happened.

They are also about 4 plays away from being 11-0 right now as well but they aren't just like they aren't 6-5.

I'm not B*&^%ing about at catch that never happened! I'm saying that our defense has not been able to seal the deal at all this year! Why is that so hard to figure out?

True, but when the O doesn't move the ball and give them time to rest and just puts them back on the field makes it kind of hard.

I'm just saying you can't lay all this on the D. The D was put in some tough situations by the ineffectiveness of the offense, they should have never been in the situations they were in for the Indiana and NW games where they basically gave up 2 game winning drives. They were and they didn't come through, but neither did the offense.

Bottom line is our D has been on the field far too much b/c of our pathetic offense. If we're not so anemic on offense, our D wouldn't be in that position NEARLY every game. Stop spotlighting the D when the O has more than it's share of blame. The D held many opponents under their season average. You have to score points to win games.
