HAWKS WIN. and it was fun to see Iowa throw the ball around today - 33 attempts! While they ran 36 run attempts.

As you all pointed out pass protection was good enough. The run blocking however, by the OLine wasn't really improved much this year. That is a concern.

Based on this I'll say Iowa finishes 7-5. Just not enough offense and the D will be ok but not elite

It just seems like Iowa's scheme struggles to get players in space, be it either receivers in space or holes for running backs.
Not hard to do as an opposing team when you have 25 years of game tape to help plan for the jugglerknot blitzkrieg offensive system that has been in place! Tom Brady would have the same results playing for Iowa. Not a qb problem or even personnel issue. It's a captain kirk issue. There , I've said again this year like I have in the past several. Now all the haters tell me differently. We win ugly! It's the way it is. Just be happy we've had some pretty damn decent season's. Tamper down national championship expectations and ride with it!

Hell of a game for Colorado. Wouldn’t mind some PRIME time in IOWA CITY.

Washington’s offense looks good too, however this is not same Boise State we used to see a few years ago.

He has two good years he’s getting an SEC or nfl job.

Just watching Wisconsin offensive line pushing their opponent buffalo out of the way making huge holes for their running backs why are we having so many problems in this area recruiting or coaching? What the hell is it It’s been going on to long now

Well, not once did I state anything about national c-ship expectations. I merely just made a statement about an observation. It's just a simple point about getting players in space. That's all.

I think where Iowa really struggles or has a problem is when the running game isn't going, it seems like they get stuck in the mud. It's like they don't have a good plan B or C. It's like they have difficulty adjusting because all eggs are in the basket for the running game. But, it was just the first game. We'll see and know much more after next week, a rival on the road.

Sorry, it wasn't meant as a jab to you. I meant its what we see every year. It's a system of low risk and low rewards offense. It Kirk's system. It's vanilla as hell. I meant as in a whole, I agreed with what you posted and anybody thinking we are going to run with the big Dawgs It's just not going to happen. Kirk's happy with with things just the way they are. I agree that you would think a little separation and this tight formation crap could be changed some but I haven't seen in it 25 yrs.

I'd like to see this kind of scheme after a couple of series with 7 man fronts, or a potential blitzer appearing from nowhere. Just option into something where All is at FB. There's a lot that could be done from that position. All could motion from TE to FB and stretch Lachey far out into the wide receiver territory, for one option. Or All leads the running play. Or All seeps out into an open zone from which the additional defenders have been moved into the box. That's a route that could flummox the defense. If they get to cover All there's always going to be a defender open somewhere, preferably behind the guy that picks up All. Or Kaleb Johnson or whomever is RB has some blitz up duties. McNamara will find a receiver if he gets reasonable protection. There are so many plays that could be run out what looks like standard 12 package. There are better receivers catching those balls.
