Omaha World Herald takes a shot at Iowa Football program, their coach, their fans.

Re: Omaha World Herald takes a shot at Iowa Football program, their coach, their fans

What a d-bag. That was a "mediocre" team that came into Lincoln and took the Fuskers to the woodshed. Sure seems like someone needs to remind this jobber that it ain't the 90's anymore. The days of hiding guns and allowing murderers, yes murderers, on the field are LONG gone. F him, and F that whole program.

Re: Omaha World Herald takes a shot at Iowa Football program, their coach, their fans

The arrogance of that fanbase is comical. Even their sports writers live in the delusion that the Huskers are still a perennial top 10 team and that being ranked is business as usual. I'm sure eventually they'll come to the realization that they are mediocre, although I don't see that happening any time soon.

I always find it incredible that some chump like Chatelain has a job that requires him to pass judgment on someone like K.F. Im sure he feels good about himself.

Re: Omaha World Herald takes a shot at Iowa Football program, their coach, their fans

I didn't mean to bring on the Sker hate to this site by starting a thread about Nebraska, I just live in this area and it's all the same by that rag about the Hawks. They go out of their way to take shots at Iowa because that is what their readers want to hear and read . I don't HATE the Huskers or their fans. But I do get a kick out of it when their writers try and sell their base on the Iowa and Nebraska programs having similar records since 2002. Sure, that's true if you just go by sheer #'s of wins and loses, but it's hardly even comparable in regards to success. I honestly don't see a problem with Kirk trying to keep his team humble as a way to manage the pressures that come with being "ranked".

Re: Omaha World Herald takes a shot at Iowa Football program, their coach, their fans

total idiot...he should be writing how Pelini is the death of Husker football as we know it.....Oh God forbid he write or attempt to write anything bad about Big Red (or even attempt to write anything that makes sense)....Big Red Loser

Re: Omaha World Herald takes a shot at Iowa Football program, their coach, their fans

Wow, sounds an awful lot like butt hurt little brother over in lames. He can say whatever he wants. We put a hurting on them in their own house last year and can easily do it again this year. This ain't 93 and we ain't isu.

Re: Omaha World Herald takes a shot at Iowa Football program, their coach, their fans

There is a legitimate argument that our coach is overpaid (as most of you know, I don't really care what he is paid), but at least our coach hasn't publicly told us all to F-off.

Am I right?

Re: Omaha World Herald takes a shot at Iowa Football program, their coach, their fans

I tweeted at the author Dirk Chatelain

"2 BCS games and 4 top 10 finishes are not "similar records" to NU since 2002. NU has NONE of those things in that time."

To which he responded

"Agree, but are you gonna compare bad seasons too?"

to which I responded

"sure, NU's 5-6(2004) & 5-7 (2007) are "similar" to Iowa's 6-7(2006) & 4-8 (2012) seasons."

seriously, I think he thinks NU has never had a down year. I get that Iowa has had more and I would never try to compare the 2 programs overall. Nebraska is head and shoulders above Iowa in college football history and anyone who argues otherwise is pretty daft, but come on now, they haven't been relevant in football since I was in high school.

how many times have they lost by large margins in the big ten since joining? At Wisconsin, BTCCG, At Columbus... to name a few. Iowa's only really bad loss was to PSU in 2012.

I like all of this.

I just read his article.

I liked it.

Minnesota used to be really good at football, too.

Perhaps Nebraska is on its way to becoming the next Minnesota?

Spot on as always.

The funny part is the writer admits right away that Iowa has been as good a program for the past 10-11 years. They are the program that has fallen from the higher level. Then to make fun of KF, when their own coach embarrasses them seemingly daily is a pretty rich irony.

Re: Omaha World Herald takes a shot at Iowa Football program, their coach, their fans

What is really happening is Nebraska just woke up and realized that Iowa is a rival now. The author of the article is trying a little too hard to put Iowa down. It is similar to some of the stuff Iowa fans started writing and saying when McCarney began to beat Iowa on a regular basis. Iowa really dominated Nebraska last fall and it had to be very concerning to their fan base. I think that the game in Kinnick this fall against Nebraska looks like a "toss up" game.

I also think it is starting to dawn on Nebraska fans that they are really much closer to Iowa, Wisconsin and even Minnesota as a program and not a national title contender any more. I don't see that changing. They are going to have to beat Wisconsin and Iowa (and some other good teams) every year to win the Western Division. It won't be easy to do.

Chatelain has had wood for KF for a long time. It's an old act that just gets older. Nothing really new to see here. If you look through the HN archives you'll find the Weird Harold has had little kind to say about Kirk Ferentz and Iowa athletics in general for many, many years. At least Iowa's coach doesn't carry a cat onto the field. Consider the source and move on.

One of my greatest wishes would be fulfilled if this happened within my lifetime.

As far as the OWH goes, Sam McKewon is an even bigger ****** than this guy.

I love it. We'll see what he is saying on November 29th.

Re: Omaha World Herald takes a shot at Iowa Football program, their coach, their fans

Now is the time for trash talk. Let em bring it. Just tell them 38-17.... And if he's ok with a coach that has pulled the crap Pelini has.... as opposed to how Ferentz has conducted himself that's all that needs to be said.

Re: Omaha World Herald takes a shot at Iowa Football program, their coach, their fans

" My question for you is why — after four Top-10 seasons under Ferentz — you allow your program to set the bar so low. Why you still treat a New Year’s Day bowl as if we’re living in 1992."

Someone hit the nail on the head with that one. You can't deny that he's right about that.
