Olympic Trip Turns Light On for Olaseni - Iowa Official Athletic Site

I am excited to see this kid get some more minutes. From article:

"It was a great experience to see professional athletes train hard for four years for that one moment," said Olaseni, who played in 18 games as a freshman. "It was interesting to see what it takes to be a professional and the approach they have to their game.

"Obviously with sports like basketball, if you mess up you sprint back and get in front of your defender. You lose a game; you still have more to play. In the Olympics, one false start, and four years of training is gone. You have to take every day as if it is your last. It made me appreciate how good you have to be to be great."

Of course I want Woody to succeed, but I have to say I am pulling for Gabe just as much. They have different games. Would be great for each to reach their full potential and give us a legit two-headed monster in the post.

Let's hope he keeps developing and does not simply become a "practice legend." :) Have to admit I like the idea of him, Adam, and the kid from Georgia (sorry, name escapes me at this very second).

It'd be nice if he was decent and Woody can hold his own his first year. To me, the thing that stopped us from being a tournament team last year was having any kind of inside presence, especially on defense. If they can just do a good job of getting in the way, this team will be improved.

Woodbury wasn't really a defensive presence in Iowa 4A, I don't anticipate him making a huge impact on defense in the BoneG, at least not immediately. If Gabe can stop being such an offensive liability (not necessarily a contributor, just not a liability), he can be a great impact player this season.

It is a great motivator for Gabe to have that carrot out there to play for the English national team in the Euro Championships in 2014 and maybe the 2016 Olympics.

Luol Deng was heavily criticized by the Chicago media and Bulls fans for eschewing surgery on the torn ligament in his wrist to represent his country (England) in the Olympics. He knew how it was a once in a lifetime opportunity for English bb to play in front of a home crowd in the Olympics. Deng is now the pied piper of English bb. He is reportedly a cousin of Peter Jok. Gabe surely admires Luol as the king of English bb. Luol's wrist seems to be ok without the surgery and he led the Bulls in scoring last nite in their first exhibition game. I really admire Luol for putting the country that took in his family when they were driven out of the Sudan first and foremost, and taking the slings and arrows with grace. Hard not to root for him,and hope that someday Gabe gets to play with him,and Peter Jok and Gabe have the same high character that Luol has consistently demonstrated.

Hes got good one on one offensive skills the question is how much does he understand team offensive concepts of spacing and movement.
