Olaseni Takes off from Free Throw Line Dunk

The fact that 6'10" guy can take off from the free throw line and dunk.... is meaningless. Put a defender on him, and then, and if, he does it... then you have a story.

I never said that kind of dunk translates to a game. All I said was that Gabe is the best athlete we've had since Doug Thomas. I don't see how your post or the comparison to Wright refutes that in any way.

Lol, what are you even talking about ?No one can dunk from the freethrow with some one in front of them.

The point is very few people, 6'10 or otherwise, can do it at all. jumping ability is very relevant to basketball.

i wasn't refuting any point you made and in fact said it was impressive. I was only bringing out the point that Gerry had one of the most impressive dunks I have ever seen in a hawkeye uniform. Also Gerry dribbled the ball on the run and then took off from the free throw line. Gabe was running with the ball without dribbling it. That's not taking away anything from Gabe as that does show great leaping ability.

You don't ever need to be defensive around me as I make it a point to never criticize other peoples post. Not here and never on Hawk Forum. I think when people get that personal then they need to put their real names on this forum. You have somewhat by at one point referring to your own articles you have written. Oh, by the way I've enjoyed reading them, thank you.

Id say May is way better athlete than Gabe. You just dont usually see a 7 foot dude that can run and jump like Gabe, but he wasnt even the best athlete on the team last year.

I would disagree with that. Even if you say Gabe was the second-best athlete on the team last year, the fact that he's a big and May was a guard says a lot. Lots of guards have May's athleticism. Very few big men have the kind of athleticism Gabe possesses.

Id say may can run faster, jump higher and is stronger than Gabe. Just because big guys cant run and jump like Gabe doesnt make him any better of a athlete. It just makes a better big man. You could say he was the best athlete out of all the 5s that Iowa has had maybe.

Just cause I play ball on a 7 foot hoop that doesnt change how good of an athlete I am.

Best play that I remember Sir-Jam-A-Lot making was coming from about half court to pin an opponent's break-away layup against the glass. My recollection is that it was right before a timeout and the crowd continued cheering through the entire timeout. That was back when Carver really got loud.

It's more of the "pound for pound" kind of argument. Iowa's not had someone like Gabe in a long time.

Well you cant say hes a better athlete because hes taller. May was a better athlete any way you look at it. Gabe could be the best athlete on the team this year.

Wait a second...how can Gesell get up and do a reverse dunk like that? I thought he was just another of those nonathletic, white kids that Coach McCaffery has gathered together.
