Olaseni needs more minutes

I'm not sure if anyone remembers, but he is from London. They guy didn't play basketball until he was around 15. Didn't play American ball until later. Fran wanted to red shirt him but felt we needed the body. He just needs more development and the minutes will come. Here is an old article on him from the QC Times if some never saw.

I don't know if Gabe is ready for meaningful minutes yet...excuse me for a second

*shoves face in bag and takes a deep breath*

AWW DUDE! Gabe is totes ready to play. 8 feet tall and runs like a deer! Woodbury might have to come off the bench until Gabe goes pro...

I'm getting scared about the lack of PT for Gabe. We are so poor down low that if he isn't playing I wonder about his long term future. Is he going to be another Devon Archie? Probably a reason he was available so late in the season

I am not worried about Gabe. I think we will get his minutes next year in a rotation with Woody and Meyer. As has been pointed out several times, he is very new to the game of basketball. There is plenty of learning that has to take place before his head can catch up with his physique.

Do you really think getting his a$$ handed to him by Nix and Green would help Gabe learn? I don't. He isn't ready for that kind of lesson.

Exactly how much do you drink before you post? It must be a lot, because all you do is rip everybody and act like you are some freaking authority. Think for two seconds here dude, if Olaseni can't get on the court in a lost season with a dinged up Archie and Brommer ahead of him, when is he going to get PT when Woodbury and Meyer arrive?

Olaseni is on scholarship, not red shirted and is not a baby bird. Did anyone say to play him extensively against Nix and Green? No, the premise of my response and others is that he needs more PT, like more than two minutes at the end of blowout losses. McCaffrey has said the same, but I am sure you are smarter than him.

Go ahead with your moronic response with multiple dbag references, but you are the definition of a blow hard message board troll if there ever was one. Must be hell to live in a world of negativity fuled by ignorance.

I have never used the word dbag while posting until today. The fact that I think you are irrational in wanting to force Gabe onto the floor before he is ready does not make you a dbag or me a moron. I do occasionally point out that some posters don't know much about the progression of young ballplayers. It is something I do know quite a bit about, so yes, I would consider myself somewhat of an authority. Did you happen to notice that you and Herby are really the only two clamoring for more playing time for Gabe? How is it that you two are right, and the rest of the board are moronic negative trolls?

If Fran has said he needs to get Gabe more minutes, what is keeping that from happening? I think Fran is getting Gabe as many minutes as he thinks he is ready for. Why do you think that it is a good idea to second guess the head coach? What makes you an authority?

Oh the irony of the bolded portion.

I know 136, who is this guy to tell us all that Fran is doing it wrong?

Talk about an interwebz blow hard.

Good post.

Fran has a plan for this season, but he also has a long term plan, and Gabe is part of that. He is bringing him along as he feels will benefit Gabe the most. If Gabe isn't his best C options during practice, how/why would he put him into games against even better and more talented competition?

As I posted above, I think we will have a nice three player rotation in the post for next year. Our friend from the Double H brain trust of course assumes that Woody and Meyer will get all the minutes leaving Gabe out in the cold. Once again, the two newcomers will be freshmen. While at least woody is very highly ranked, I doubt either of them will be ready for full game type minutes and it will be great to have depth at a position we have not had for years.

and where did i say he should get extensive minutes? my post was about Fran has stated he needs to get Gabe minutes but he is not, all i am expecting would be 3-4 per half, not 15 mintes a half
if you don't like others opinions fine, but this not the only Hawkeye board and there are others who feel the same way, but you all knowing so called experts just bash and belittle anyone who says anything that goes against what you all knowing greatness feel is that right way of thinking

There is ONE other person who agrees with you in this thread. And I think I will take Fran's distribution of playing time over what herbyhawk and hawkIhoops think Fran should be doing.

And I thought you were trying to crack the Coker case Officer herby?

Herby, I don't consider myself all knowing, but I do think I know a damn site more about college basketball than you.

BTW, what is your explanation as to why Fran isn't giving Gabe more minutes? Are Archie and Brommer perhaps black mailing him? Just curious. I will hang up and listen to your answer.
