Oklahoma tonite....Iowa take note

I think Alabama is a faster version of LSU. LSU is Alabama light........I would still take bama's line and running back. Those guys are beasts. However, Oklahoma has themselves some QB and very good receivers. Great game to watch tonight!

They're faster, but not by a lot. The difference between Bama and OU is way smaller than the difference between Iowa and LSU.

There's not really a thread I've found to address this topic, but has anyone else looked into ESPN's FPI garbage? The system is now 17 for 30 on its bowl predictions and 4 of its 7 two-touchdown favorites have lost. Because FPI has Florida State favored by 13.4, I'm starting to think Auburn has a really good chance to win.

I think it adds a little extra bulletin board material.

They beat ALA-*******-BAMA by two touchdowns, and you're finding reasons to ***** about how they pulled it off?

Actually, that sounds just like you.

i think thunder just hates life. don't ever recall seeing him happy about anything.

I hardly think Iowa was "scared" of LSU.

As for returning the fumble vs just downing it. How many on this board....be honest...in the heat of the game, is going to pause and say "gee, maybe I shouldn't score here and just down the ball" vs. picking it up and taking it into the end zone? I would venture 99% would pick the ball up and run it in when given the chance.

Thunder does make a valid point on the fumble. The only way Alabama has any chance at coming back was by the lineman picking the ball up and scoring, had he just fallen on it then the game is over. Then when I seen the 2 unsportsmanlike penalties called on Oklahoma forcing them to kick off from the 15 it made me wonder if the TD was a mistake. Had the Alabama player been able to corral that kickoff they would have started at the 25, a quick score and things start getting interesting again.

But it is tough to expect a defensive lineman to pass up a touchdown. The correct "presence of mind" would have also been for the Alabama lineman to not try and tackle him since tackling him ends the game.

Thunder, these are 18-21 year old kids....they are not "taught" to do more than fall on a ball in a fumble situation, but they "all" do try to advance it. Fast forward to a big game, big stage. Hard to find fault with the defensive players effort. I don't think many coaches would fault him as well.

Even as Ssckelly indicated, for the offensive player to think anything but to tackle the ball advancer is crazy, especially for kids, and at that state of the game with under 60 tics left, and where panic is the situation at hand.... That was a stressful situation from the snap. I would not have been surprised of an int. in there, by AJ McCarren or many pros....and then, maybe, at that point, maybe a db to run and take a knee...but not a dline guy advancing a fumble.

Good game. Good on B Stoops! Suck it Alabama.

There are instincts that ball players have - one of them is to put the rock into the endzone if you have a chance to do so. People were even talking smack on Randall Cobb for scoring the TD late against the Bears because GB could have just kicked the FG to win, but everyone's instinct is to score.

Given that Thunder wants to play the parade of horribles game, well what if the defensive player downed the ball and then Oklahoma had a bad snap and then Alabama recovered the fumble and took it the other way for a TD and then went for two and won?

Nope--It is pretty clear that the SEC is massively overrated this year.

There's literally nothing dumber in the game of football than what Lowdermilk did against LSU. We all witness the dumbest football act. That kind of BS should have happened once in the entire history of football, and that one example should have been so shocking and gut wrenching that no subsequent player would have ever dropped the football again until he was flush with the backstop behind the endzone.

Problem is, damn near anything else you do gets a flag for unsportsmanlike/excessive celebration...

Agreed 100%. I think this bowl season has done wonders to disprove how the SEC was head and shoulders above everyone else. As an SEC hater, I am more than willing to accept that they have some of the best programs in the nations, but the notion that as a conference they are "in a league all by themselves" is quickly fading and in my opinion complete crap. But then again, I'm sure its just a rebuilding year for the conference and all SEC programs simply weren't up for bowl games this year because they were mentally recovering from such brutal SEC schedules.

Good job of piling on Lowdermilk for making a mistake! I think you should send your thoughts out on the internet so everyone will know that he is a complete idiot. Oh, wait...you already did that. It is people like you making posts like this one that make me want to stay off of this message board. Thankfully, there are a lot of good posters here...and, there is an opportunity for me to block your stupid statements.

The more you agree with me, the more I like you.

Can't remember the last time Oklahoma exceeded expectations. FSU in 2000?
Oklahoma, when healthy, looked like a top 5 team. They had injuries in 2011 when they fell to the Insight.

Now, Stoops is looking at the Cleveland Browns job.

Why would a good college coach want to go to the pros other than in a perfect situation? Fact is, most NFL guys turn over every 2-3 years because unless a team has a franchise QB and a really good front office, they'll be 9-7 at best and they'll blame the head coach for all the team's problems. Good thing JD moved to Oklahoma or else the state would have taken an insurmountable IQ hit when Stoops leaves.

I know Sooner fan loves Stoops now, but they have been on him for quite some time, ala Mack Brown-like.
It's probably leverage for more $$ at OU for him and/or his assistants.
He's been in Norman for 15 years and made lots of coin, so I could see a change in scenery for him.

Kirk used pro team interests to expand his pay quite successfully. Bobby is just following his mentor.

But of the NFL jobs available the Browns job has to be one of the more attractive ones. You already have the makings of a very good defense and you have an offense with Josh Gordon at WR, which is a good starting point. I don't think it takes much for them to pass the Bengals in the AFC North.

Well golly gee, that'd be great if the Bungles were the only other team in the AFC Central. They aren't. The Stillers and Ravens are in the division, too, and both get decent draft picks this year and have veteran, Super Bowl winning QBs on their rosters. The Browns are only as good as the QB they land and if it is a rook, there's a 75% chance he will stink. Here is a recent (though not fully updated) list of Browns QBs (but this year's draft will be different):

Just curious, have you watched any of the Browns games this past season? Josh Gordon can make any quarterback look good, he is an amazing receiver. Look at how good Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery made McCown look? There are people in Chicago suggesting that the Bears should let Cutler walk and go with McCown.

The Steelers and the Ravens??? Puhleese, they are in rebuild mode.
