Yes, time to move on from all the what if's. Maryland seemed to run the ball very well so I expect to see all 3 running backs get carries and see who is making the best cuts into the best holes, as I expect our OLine to be pretty confident after the last game.

Overall the Hawk defense played pretty well. Yeah it hurt they gave up a 95 yard td drive and then the big 87 yard drive late but I dont see a fairly inexperienced Minny team doing that.

The hawk D will play inspired assignment football. Minny cant have close to as good an OLine or RBacks as Wisky so I think they can read run, play their gaps and scrapes, try to penetrate and get negative plays. No run then clobber the QB.

The two corners and safeties I hope shouldnt have to worry about run support as much as against Wisky which will let at least the corners lock down and concentrate on receivers

See that "post-bye" suspicion has been mentioned. I honestly suspected it, myself, however, a few factual nuggets:
1) Iowa is actually 5-5 after byes the last 10 seasons.
2) Most have been roadies, and they were 2-5 in those.
3) The last 2 seasons (prolly most relevant) were both road losses:
- 11/5/16 @ PSU, got eviscerated, 14 - 41.
- 10/21/17 @ NwU, just bumbled their way to a 10 - 17 overtime loss (where the rush attack reeked).

4) Minny is also coming off a bye.
- 6-4 over the last 10 seasons, with 3 over NwU, 2 over Iowa, 1 over Colo St.

Conclusion? Whodaphuqknows!
As with most games after non-con, Rutgers and (usually) Illannoy ... it's 50 / 50 against against every other lower-tiered team in the B14.

IF Hawks show-up like against Wisconsin, they should win by 8-10. If they are sleepy & sloppy and do stupid things, they will lose by 3-6. No surprise if either one happens.

We were a better team than Wisconsin and mostly just lost because we were -3 in turnover differential. We're much better than Minnesota so as long as we're not -4 or worse in TO diff, we should win.

Iowa could shit stomp the rest of the teams on the schedule but the only one that mattered was the defacto division title game that Iowa pissed down their leg.

If Iowa does shit stomp the rest of the schedule... you won't hear many complaints. 11-1 (or 10-2 with an upset in there) is a damn good year.

As for the golden rodents...you can't take anybody for granted, ask Virginia Tech...especially a team like the Goophs that has a bone for Iowa. (we've seen Kirk lose his share of these)

I agree, but there are a couple other games each season you DONT want to lose, lest the season go to hell in a handbag. The Clowns are obvious. The Gophers are another. Both inferior teams that gun for Iowa each year.

Nebby is another, but by the time we get them, seasons fate is decided.....

There are a lot of teams that seem to "gun for Iowa". ISU and Minnesota, obviously. Wisconsin had us circled, you know Northwestern will. Indiana always punches above their weight when we play over there. Illinois, who can't do much about it anyway. Even Rutgers, because their coach is from Ottumwa or whatever. Half the conference seems to get up and gun for us. Or maybe in our low key way, we don't give the impression that we are gunning for them.

This will be my first game in person this year.

Despite both teams losing, StubHub ticket prices remain stubbornly expensive

Damn right they are. They're not dropping a dime right now. Probably because the sellers know Iowa fans will pay the steep prices. I did.

Losing to a guy named P.J. would be very unmasculine! Please Hawks save the the yearly known turd game loss for either NW or Purdue!

Yeah were all sick about giving the Bucky game away. But let's not let what could still be a good season go down the toilet by losing to a hapless Minnesota team. Now without Winfield Jr on D.

Let’s not forget the Iowa staff doesn’t think too highly of PeeWee Speck. Not just his act, but his recruiting reputation. After a big loss, they should be looking to make a statement and rub his face in it.
I’m sure Kirk would agree that Fleck is one of those guys (we all know one) who gets up every morning and the first thing on his mind, as soon as his feet hit the floor. Before faith, family or football, is ‘what am I gonna wear today and how cool will I look?’

Row the boat, my ass.

Thanks for looking the post-bye win/loss records.

I'll add that Iowa hasn't done particularly well the next game after a loss to Wisconsin. A bit down after a big loss.
2017 L-Wisconsin & L- Purdue
2016 L-Wisconsin & L- Penn State - with bye week between
2014 L-Wisconsin & L- Nebraska
2013 L-Wisconsin & W-Purdue

Nailed it. Actually, he’s got that done the night before. Before he goes to bed his outfit is picked out.

To be honest though, somewhere inside I almost admire the guy. To be that driven by your own bullshit, buy into it at that level, it’s impressive. Hell, he’s 9 years younger than me making WAY more money than I’ll ever make, maybe I should read his book. Maybe I’m the dumbass.

When a gimmicky coach/personality like fleck can’t produce any results to back up his silly stuff, it just makes him that much more fun to root against.

Harbaugh and his stupid antics make everyone think he’s even more of a douche. Fleck and harbaugh are like the lavar ball of college football. Just yap a lot about stupid things and everyone else laughing at them.
